With an FTP of 340 at 78 Kg, that's a 4.35 power to weight ratio. You say you're a Cat-3? Maybe Cat-3 Sandbagger...that's mid Cat-2 power dude. |

FTP is not the ONLY determiner of what cat you should/can race in! V02, tactics, type of terrain etc. If this guy lives in the mtns, then he may have trouble staying in with a strong Pro/1 group climbing, for that you might need closer to 5w/kg. |

haha. what would you say about me racing cat 3 on 5w/kg? Last I checked race category and sandbagger status were decided by results, not power numbers. |

I wish I had historical numbers to compare against. It's fun tracking improvements, and finding deficits in ability. Although last year was my first year cycling, so I'm sure the numbers wouldn't be demonstrative of anything. |

You should update the list with the category in which each rider competes to get an idea where we should aim to hit a certain level. |

I really don't know what it is at sea level, although FTP never exceeded ~330W when I still lived there from 2001-2004. The 10 mile time listed is from sea level in 2004, while the 40k PR is from 2005 at 6500'. |

Yeah, that's a good idea. But seriously, you're only Cat 5 at 4.1W/kg? Are you new to racing? I figured at 4W/kg you'd be able to get to Cat 3 in most places, and at the very least a good Cat 4 racer.
