Thanks DiabloScott. Your responses helped and I hope you don't mind. If I don't get my reserve, I will simply keep it - as you said, it's a real jewel.

Heck I don't mind, but if I'd have known you were going to use my description I would have written something even better!

I don't know how many people buy vintage velos on eBay, but I would expect the savvy ones to wait until the last moment to bid so as to avoid whipping up other bidders into a frenzy. The bid price on that Cinelli track bike doubled in the last 6 hours of the auction because of two guys who hadn't entered a bid up until the last day.

I'm almost as excited as you! What a great find. All I ever found in my Grandpa's basement was mouldy old junk.

Me too ..... Except I did find my Uncle Milt when I was 10 years old in my grandfathers basement. They told me that he died in the war. His vocabulary consisted of the constant repitition of the Coca-Cola jingle from the 70's..... 'I want to buy the world a Coke."
And did my mother get pissed when I took him to school for show and tell.....
And my family have a lot of explaining to do when the 'Family welfare" people showed up.....
Uncle Milt ended up running away a few years later with the postal delivery lady. Looking back on it, I wish my grandfather had a Cinelli in the basement instead of my Uncle Milt.

Why did you decide to categorize it as a collectible instead of sporting goods? You might miss a few folks that way. I'm pretty sure multiple categories are allowed (for a small fee).

Listed in category: Collectibles > Transportation > Bicycles > Other Brands

Hi Wolfix - Do you know what kind of bike exactly is my bike ? Racing? Track? ? Thanks.

And again ..... Cinelli/Colnago buyers seem to have larger pocket books..... Cinelli is the status bike of riders. And should be.
Those World stripes around the top/bottom of the headtube are nice. I am not into the color gold, but this bike pulls it off nicely.
Here is a link to Classic Rendezvous, a very good site.

Just out of curiosity, what was your grandfather doing with this bike? Was he a rider? A fitness person ? I was told years ago that there was a small bunch of Italian racers in Canada. And I think it was Moser who had family in Canada.

Yup - with less than four hours to go the serious bidders have joined the action/auction. James's reserve price has still not been met at $1080 though - maybe we had given him a little too much optimism or maybe the bidders are getting close.

I do think the listing catagory is going to prevent a higher price. I know that I usually am pretty close to hitting the correct price on e-bay.... This is not a talent I have but a skill develpoed after being a E-Bay junkie of 1970 vintage cycling stuff of 2 years...... I had way too much free time. I am working on a raleigh team pro project now, otherwise I know I would go at least $2000 on this with the idea of re-sale.

I thought that too because if you search on Cinelli you get a lot of appurtenant stuff like handlebars and tape so the logical thing to do is narrow the search to "road bikes and frames". Or if you're just searching on vintage bikes you wouldn't look in "collectables" at all probably.

Less than two hours to go.

Some of my excellent finds have been in unusual places.. I searched "Italian shirts" to find a wool worlds jersey once.
I have a friend who has a retail "vintage store." But he spends some time on e-bay...... He has found several pairs of "jeans" that the Japanese have a cult following for. He averages a re-sale price of over $900 for these particular jeans that he finds in unusual places for less then $10.00..... Last year he found/sold at least 3 of them........
Some people, like this guy with the Cinelli on here now, find the greatest things and have no idea what they are worth.
A friend of mine is shocked at the worth of a beautiful, all campy vintage road bike. but he rides around town on a $2000 full suspension Mtn bike . An aluminium one at that no less....

Well, it was fun watching.

Hi Wolfix/Diablo Scott - I have re-listed my bike on E-Bay. Thanks for all your inputs. I certainly know now what I have Wolfix - I showed the bike to an expert (and friend) here in Toronto today. Cheers.
