Oh, back to blaming the locals again, huh? Haven't you idyuts learned yet that the 'not taking responsibility for your Party's f*ck-ups' routine doesn't work anymore?

I'd say that only the dimwitted 38% or so (IF that) the Repigs have left believe your type of horseshit. People are realizing the lies of the GOP are just to cover up their class-warfare, racism, and greed.

Keep drinking the Kool-Aid. Homer.

We couldn't blame the locals could we? The govenor and the mayor could not even take care of their own. But watch ..... Those people will move right back, it will be business as usual, and then a flood will hit again, then they will scream... "It's your job to help me."
" class-warfare, racism, and greed. " The favorite words of a liberal college student trying to impress a freshman girl. Liberals are the reason the Republicans have won so many elections. The working Democrat is tired of the liberals attempting to give their hard earned money away to the non-working people. I have noticed a trend....... Republicans do not pay attention to the liberals and the working democrats are embarressed by them.

I don't think that it's merely co-incidental that nearly 60 years N.O. was the centre of race demonstrations and the push for racial equality (see Rosa Parks biog).

60 years later when that region required assistance - federal assistance during that recent hurricane - N.O. was left to it's own devices.

upon govt emergency services being needed to support the basic and urgent need NO was left with armed military guards to menace and threaten instead of providing life care and support, including such necessities as food and water to those in need.

this is simular to other failures of this type with energy companies, where the government did not respond to prevent enron instigated blackouts in california to paying customers.

the end result is, that privatization of the rebuilding is seen as acceptable as there was a, guess what?, a failure of the system conveniently to blame as being unable provide the basics in any adequate way.

this is true double dipping on the taxpayers dime, they pay for services that are not provided, then the government shells out to the high bid friend and family syndicate to do the job, with the taxpayers money once again, albeit with a high profit margin...

those who would support privatization are hurting of late, as the bush roadshow to plunder social security was met soundly with jeers. but keep an eye out, this recent catastrophy is being exploited for the same purpose, money in the pockets of the bush family and friends criminal syndicate at the expense of the taxpayer.

as to previously posted comments on any perceived trend regarding a negative outlook on "liberalism", i have paid my share of taxes into this corrupt syndicate and am disgusted at the result. this is not a matter of partisan finger pointing so much as a recognition of a ineffective corrupt system, and to align ones self with the current government and it's symbolic progaganda is to disregard the facts, and handily ignore this.

NewOrleans is a long way from Montgomery and was not even a spot concerned with the civil rights movement. Alabama was heavily involved with racial issues. But it was in the north where change occurred.
NO has recieved huge amounts of federal funding over the years. They knew they had a problem. But again, taxpayers were expected to pay for the pork barreling of local corrupt officals. Pay and pay again......
Then making this into a racial issue..... Let's look at this from another perspective. I am a taxpayer. Am I expected to pay additional taxes to insure that the people of NO's are protected from their own corrupt officials? Is it my job to protect them from themselves? If they want to live in an area where it is known to be a disaster waiting to happen, what does that make them? Being poor is no excuse for being uneducated in America. What really happened in America is that the American public got to witness on a nightly basis on TV how people of NO view "personal responsibility." The real story, not a liberal take on "I am poor, and my bad behavior is justified by it." Certain behavior is predictable.
The liberals in this country need " disenfranchised people." Without them , they have no political base. So when a problem arises, a liberals chant is "It's racial."
Reminds me of a joke that could be applied to NO's...
=====================================================================

A religious man is on top of a roof during a great flood. A man comes by in a boat and says "get in, get in!" The religous man replies, " no I have faith in God, he will grant me a miracle."

Later the water is up to his waist and another boat comes by and the guy tells him to get in again. He responds that he has faith in god and god will give him a miracle. With the water at about chest high, another boat comes to rescue him, but he turns down the offer again cause "God will grant him a miracle."

With the water at chin high, a helicopter throws down a ladder and they tell him to get in, mumbling with the water in his mouth, he again turns down the request for help for the faith of God. He arrives at the gates of heaven with broken faith and says to Peter, I thought God would grand me a miracle and I have been let down."
St. Peter chuckles and responds, "I don't know what you're complaining about, we sent you three boats and a helicopter."
====================================================
American's are tired of hearing the racial thing when things go wrong. And anyone in America who puts the Federal government in charge [under any administeration ] of their life has no sense of reality.

wolfix, your last post is such a load of stereotypical bullsh!t. Thousands upon thousands of people - working and non-working, left, right, center, and "Don't care, don't vote", men/women/children, old/young, black/white/purple polka-dotted - either lost their lives, their loved ones, and/or most if not everything materially they had.

Those that had been employed lost their places of work. Do you think Katrina discriminated about whose/which buildings she was gonna knock down?

If the country was to take your advice, then the entire southern coastal underbelly of the U.S. should be vacated permanently, because a monster 'cane could hit anywhere from Delaware (or further north) to the Mexico border.

Yes, you're a regular goddamned genius.

Then of course there was last year's Hurricane Trifecta in FL. I know - my father, 3 of my brothers, aunt, and their families live in the state. They've seen the shuck & jive going on first-hand and several times over, and not only from FEMA & the Feds but from Smirky's brother as well.

Your anti-tax ravings are little more than a feckless shill for the hard-right theives/liars/bigots. It IS curious however that you rarely if ever croak anything untoward about the Feds under the Bush junta.

I understand hurricaines. I lived in Key Biscayne for 6 years. I have spent time at relatives in Key West. "We" understood what a hurricaine was capable of and there were plans in place as far back as 1965 to evacuate when a hurricaine approched. We did not sit and expect the Feds to come and provide a taxi service.

And what is the mayors responsibility here? He was one of the first out of town. He had the buses at his disposal to help evacuate the city.... Was there cooperation between him and the governor ???
And the difference of NO and ther other hurricaine ravaged cities is that NO is sitting under sea-level with levees that the mayor knew was not capable of handling major hurricaines. One of his jobs as mayor is to protect the citizens of NO. And there is little evidence of him doing such.
Right away he pointed the finger at the state government as being the scrapegoat. And the state government pointed at the mayor.
And using the word bigot ..... You don't have a clue. I am a white male who does not have an ounce of "white guilt." I am not apologetic to anyone. And I have been raised in several very diverse communities. My family has been involved with working for fairness for immmigrants before you were born. Growing up my best friends parents could speak little or no English. The pub I had an interest in for years was the meeting place for diversity. I know bigots. And some of the bigots I know are minorities and immigrants. There is reversal.
Just because a person expects the same behavior out of minorities that is expected out of anyone does not make a person a bigot. It's such a broken record. And you use the word "stereotypical".

Liars.... Didn't Clinton get impeached for lying?

Am I a genius???? I doubt it.... But depending on how soon the sale of the pub goes through, I may be retired before my 50th birthday. And I have built 2 successful businesses in my lifetime. Most people would consider me pretty smart. [ I am a lousy at the keyboard though. I was a marketing major who knew I could always hire a humanities major to do my typing for me. They would need a job after they got too old for McDonalds.} And my success and grasp of the American capitolism enables me to sit and play on this forum until the closing date.
America is what an individual makes of it. It is harder for some then others. But the first mistake a person makes that puts him on the road to failure is to rely on any government to take care of him. That is a mindset in America that has caused more problems in this country then anything.
And I am not fond of many things our present GOP is doing. And I am "not" part of the Christian right. I would look strongly at a Democrat if they would run a good one. I think Clinton had policys that I could live with. They were tempered with a GOP Congress that made them very workable.
I want a country that is made for the working man and the small business person. I want rewards for men that work. I do not want the government to put up artificial barriers for the businessman.
