I urge people repeatedy to just do 3 - 4 hours vigorous exercise a week. I try not to preach but what I see is obese workers who smoke over 50 cigarettes a day. I see them arriving at work puffing smoke while driving.
I think I'd like to see a return to the days of ancient Greece where there was a social stigma attached to being unfit and in poor physical shape. Modern society has become totally reliant on machines to get from A to B, we have a poor diet and drink too much alcohol. Little wonder the sperm count is falling on a global level. I didn't preach but I tried to point out to this guy that smoking would kill him. My brother said I was wasting my time and could talk while I'm blue in the face since people have just been raised this way - with chronic smoking, high fat diets and no exercise. Another question I ask is why does this guy work 75 hours a week when he may not be helathy enough to enjoy the fruits of his labour? Why work and smoke yourself into an early grave? Best to just hope your health holds out and enjoy life while you can, I think. Quote:

I may sound here like a hard-hearted fascist, but I have little sympathy. This man was sitiing smoking all night long yet he faces surgery that could even be life-threatening.
You would think this would make him quite the nicotine but he's actually increased his habit. ![]() |

Well we all know that you are a nutter, smoking is not illegal, and dying at 55 is normal for you impoverished people. On the other hand why don't you get a job shovelling shit on a farm?

It seems to me we have a serious national health problem. In my area we witness a high cholesterol diet, eating of junk food, excessive drinking and, above all, smoking.
I can tell you quite truthfully the people I work with are dropping dead. It's as simple as that. Many are red in the face and I rarely see them without cigarettes. Again, I have little sympathy for this man. Any person in their right mind would consider a change of habit once diagnosed with a tumour. Yet this same guy spent his last night at work smoking up to 40 cigarettes. So, I reiterate my view. If it were up to me I'd ban cigarettes outright. I'd ban imports, exports and remove them from the shops altogether. This is because thousands of unwilling people have had their health damaged by being in proximity to smokers. |

Australian radio station this morning reported that smoking will be banned in all UK workplaces. That should make you happy Carrera!

In that case I'm happy
Seriously, though, the person this post was triggered by is now quite ill and will be in hospital for some days at least. On an everyday basis I got on O.K. with him and he was a good worker. But I just thought he was very silly to be smoking with an operation looming over him. I think cases like this demonstrate some people can become so hooked on cigarettes they lose the ability to want to kick and it can ruin their lives. This is why the tobaco industry must be held accountable. I do hope this guy gets well, however, and I hope the doctors will tell him he should quit the habit. Quote:
