Don't fret; there will always be someone successful available for you to envy and loathe.

I'm highly insightful

I also stand by my statement that he has no charisma. His influence has far more to do with media spin and his sporting acheivements than his sparkling personality which is the area of interest when we're discussing a podium speech. You don't get awarded the le prix citron because you've charmed the pants off everyone and he may have a lot of fans but I think he can also claim to be among the most hated athletes. Yes he's turned it around in recent times but again we should be thanking his PR people. My point is, it's not something that comes naturally to him.

'Cult of personality' indeed. Go prove me wrong and drink some gatorade.

I have heard FARTS that make better arguments than you do. I work in a prominent medical laboratory and do tests on MANY people for the exact things that WILL test for PEDs. Give me a break, Flyer. I think you should change your name to fLIAR, since lies come so easy to you. You obviously know NOTHING about a lot of things, and blood testing is one of them. I look forward to your next waste of bandwidth. Every time you post people hold their noses since all you spew is shit. Thanks for being someone to laugh at. And, for what it's worth, one of my former housemates is on the Discovery Channel team. I think I have a pretty solid basis for anything I might say about PEDs and that particular team. And, if you actually KNEW Tyler Hamilton, you would know that he is not guilty of doping. I know exactly what mistake was made in the testing that is the source for contesting the ruling that is keeping him from competing.

Wrong.
I saw him in 2001 give off the cuff remarks at a cancer survivor symposium at the Ride for the Roses 2001. Only a hundred or so people. He was gripping. Unbelievably charismatic. And articulate. I was surprised how much so and impressed.

Phil Ligget said once that Lance was the kind of guy who could walk into a room full of celebrities at a crowded cocktail party, your back could be to the door where he came in, and you could tell something had happened in the room (even before he became rock star famous) an energy or shift or something had happened.

So I was surprised that Lance was at a loss for words on the podium. But that goes all the more to showing that these moments are unscripted for him and truly off the cuff. Not spun and crafted in the Nike-Postal Disco-OLN machine. If he is planning on politics he may not have furthered his cause, but in the long run it is the man, the story, and the achievements that truly count.

How many of us could put into words what stepping down might mean, while on international TV after getting off a 90mile ride, the last 30 miles of which were at 30 mph on wet cobbles? WIth his kids and mother and girlfriend standing there crying...I mean put it into human perspective and give the guy a break.

You may be impressed by him. I am not. I can't think of anything particularly memorable ever coming out of his mouth. He may have said some brilliant things and he may be devastatingly charming and I wait with bated breath for him to prove me wrong. In the meantime though; I'll fondly think of him as being as dull as dishwater.

How dare I write a post that doesn't ponitificate about how great and wonderful Lance Armstrong is! Shame on me.

He's not great because of his ability to communicate. He's great because he has been the Best rider in the Tour De France for 7 years in a row. I believe it would be 8 if he returned next year.

I'm not real sure what people were expecting from his goodbye address, but it sure has panties in a bunch.

I'd love to see it. With some attribution; not just a regurgitation of a list of names and a plea for us to take your word for it.

Clock starts ticking now . . . .

I think what some people were wanting to hear from LA in his goodbye address is this:

"First of all I wont do this speech in French because I cant speak French and even if I could I wont."

"Jan you have tried for the last few years to beat me and never did. Maybe you will win next year. I think you have a shot at it but I am better than you."

"Basso, you are the only person that could even touch me in the mountains. I am picking you to win it all next year but I am better than you."

"I have been doping my whole career so eveyone who ever believed in me is an idiot"

"God Bless America"
"God Bless George Bush"
"God Bless Texas"
"France sucks and I am never coming back and all of you can F%@! Off"

WBT and Ullefan feel free to add something in case I missed it.

How about this?

Quote:
The Manifesto of the Lance Armstrong Foundation
We believe in life.
Your life.
We believe in living every minute of it with every ounce of your being.
And that you must not let cancer take control of it.
We believe in energy: channeled and fierce.
We believe in focus: getting smart and living strong.
Unity is strength. Knowledge is power. Attitude is everything.
This is the Lance Armstrong Foundation.

We kick in the moment you’re diagnosed.
We help you accept the tears. Acknowledge the rage.
We believe in your right to live without pain.
We believe in information. Not pity.
And in straight, open talk about cancer.
With husbands, wives and partners. With kids, friends and neighbors. And the people you live with, work with, cry and laugh with.
This is no time to pull punches.
You’re in the fight of your life.

We’re about the hard stuff.
Like finding the nerve to ask for a second opinion.
And a third, or a fourth, if that’s what it takes.
We’re about getting smart about clinical trials.
And if it comes to it, being in control of how your life ends.
It’s your life. You will have it your way.

We’re about the practical stuff.
Planning for surviving. Banking your sperm. Preserving your fertility. Organizing your finances. Dealing with hospitals, specialists, insurance companies and employers.
It’s knowing your rights.
It’s your life.
Take no prisoners.

We’re about the fight.
We’re your champion on Capitol Hill. Your advocate with the healthcare system. Your sponsor in the research labs.
And we know the fight never ends.
Cancer may leave your body, but it never leaves your life.
This is the Lance Armstrong Foundation.
Founded and inspired by one of the toughest cancer survivors on the planet.

btw3, You missed the sarcasm in my post. I love how you think that you are the smartest person and the only person that knows that LA can speak more than one language.

"btw2 Armstrong and said new family is spending all this week in the South of France on holiday's.... he does love France."

btw4, Do you think that you are the only person that has read or heard that he is vacationing in the South of France. Once again you missed the sarcasm in my post.

WBT, the whole post is of a sarcastic nature. So you trying to point out discrepancies in the post or my lack of knowledge just proves to me how big of a Jackass you really are. Very poor return of serve.

Mine was an awesome Agassi styled return of serve as you failed to mention my gag about Armstrong's kids..... game, set, match WBT.

(don't bother replying either because you just don’t have the post graduate humour I possess to match me in the big games)
