I sincerely hope that either he's been clean in all his 7 wins or that he'll never be exposed. A lot of people's hearts will be broken. So many believe(d) in him... It would be a great shame...

As for the rest of his speach was a bit patronising... At least the part where he was referering to BAsso and Ulle... That's my impression.

Lance won ,what a surprise ...I enjoyed the tour and then I went out on my boat, dope free and drank beer.
I wish Jan could have beat him one time but it wasn't to be. Lance is a gifted person and I am a little jealous of him ,Basso,Jan and, you get the picture!
I assume he will never be tested again for drugs so all you Lance dope neurotics can go to a rubber room and feel the uphosltery. GET A LIFE!
I will sit back and enjoy what I have and be thankful for it.

The wheel turns slowly sometimes...but it turns never the less!
If you really care, get on the bike, ride like hell and shut-up.... it helps the air intake if you don't talk.

Flyer,

You said,
Quote:
New faces---who are you kidding???

I said,

Quote:

there will be opportunity for new faces on the upper podium.

To clarify, with Armstrong vacating the top spot, room will be made for another. Ivan Basso and Jan Ullrich still seem poised to contend for that vacancy, hence, one or the other may be a "new face" on the upper podium.

You seem to have successfully turned the discussion from "Armstrong's podium speech" to something else... "Armstrong's doping" perhaps?

Steve

Steve, Flyer does that. Any post he makes involves doping. I dont know how long you have been here but get used to it. There is no point in arguing with him. Every professional cyclist in the world is on dope according to him. Just thought I would let you know.

It truley amazes me how the Lance haters on this forum can take any situation or statement he is involved with and immediately spin it into something so full of hate. For the posters who do this it shows a complete lack of sportsmanship for this sport of cycling we love. Do yourselves a favour and try to emulate your hero Jan a little more. At least he has the courage, dignity and respect to give Lance his due. Look at his comments over the past 48 hours and you will see (well maybe you will see) what I am talking about. Only a true champion shows such dignity and grace in the eyes of defeat.

So who will you direct your hate towards next year now that the greatest TDF champion is leaving the stage. You have a year to decide. Until then keep eating from that stash of sour grapes you've been chewing on for the last 7 years. I'm sure it will sustain you until you can suplant your hatred onto someone else.

For me I just wish I was going to the party along with Jan.

Felt it today my friend. Pain is good when you control it.
Damn hot though! No air conditioned bikes here in the states. I'll survive!

Hmm, and you are basing this on what? Your personal attempts to place in top 15-20?

And just to point out a flaw in your logic, if it is truly impossible to place in top 20 without doping, then how is Lance retirement helpful here? Wouldn't you want the top 15-20 riders to be gone from the tour? Oh, wait, but then the next 15-20 riders would have to dope to place in top 15-20, as it is impossible to do so without doping. So even with entire peloton gone into retirement, the new crop of riders would have to dope just to finish in top 15-20!!! OH INSANITY!

Crankster I think I got it. Maybe that guy would be satified if they only allow 20 riders to compete then they would be no need to dope.
Viva la Lance!!!!
Anyone who thinks Armstrong was doping after going through all the cancer therapy needs therapy themselves.
I've had two members of my family go through cancer therapy and believe me you don't mess with your body after that but you do learn to push it beyond the limits of what you previously thought possible.
Those who accuse others of cheating without just cause and evidence more than likely use it to justify their own use of drugs or lack of ability .

A) If you thought Lance was made when he said "I'll get back to basso..." then you obviously weren't paying much attention.

B) Odd that so many people cheered when he mentioned Basso and Jan and the doping stuff...considering that "98% of the people there had no ide what he was saying."
