I think its safe to say that Rasmussen was not very familiar with the course.

At 40.2 check:
9 Francisco Mancebo (Illes Balears) 2.10 slower than LA Rasmussen 6'26" down on LA That means Mancebo gained 4'16" on Rasmussen JU has best time at the finish so far, of course |

Jan comes in a provisional 1st at 1:12:09. Only Lance has a Chance. I wouldn't be upset if the big man in pink won it...
EDIT: LA has 35 seconds with 5 km to go, I think he has it in the bag...

Evans 6'03" behind Rasmussen at begining of stage. At 40.2 check, Evans at 1'33" to LA. Ras at 6'26". That means Ras almost lost 5' to Evans.

LA is out of saddle; he is working. LA at 49.7km is 35" faster than JU.

Covering the same distance on the same course in 1997 : Jan Ullrich won the ITT at St Etienne in a time of 1hr 16min 24secs.

ullrich lost more time in 19 km in the first ITT then he lost today in 55 km.
