You have to go up in order to come down. Did Newton tell us that?

So might as well as to stay on the flat and blast away.

I love riding in the middle of the night. No one on the trail except some strange people and dedicated cyclists. I can get up to a fast speed, and not worry about having to slow down for pedestrians at the beach.

At 6'1" and 207lbs I am certainly no mountain goat and prefer the downhills.

On a fixed gear, it's all great. Uphill is low RPM strength, and downhill is insane high cadence. It makes for workout variety without any planning.

I like both, but I think I enjoy riding over hills more than I do through valleys since when you're on a hill, the downhill is like your reward for all the effort, but in a valley, you do the fun fast downhill part, then you look up and you're like damn...

Depends on how I'm feeling, but when I'm strong, I love going uphill. I'm a big guy but I can just outpower most of my riding companions on hills and that's a good feeling. Going 40mph downhill of course is it's own kind of fun.

I like both. Not a great climber but never have climbed off I live in Maryland and there are hills and some decent climbs in the western part of the state. I have been to Boulder, CO, to cycle 3 times and have logged some serious mileage uphill every time I have been. Hit 50 mph on my newer bike the last time I was out there. My old Specialized started to feel unstable when it approached 45 mph. I once rented a mtn bike and did some ride with a local in Boulder up some road called 4 or 6 Mile Canyon (something like that) and coming downhill we were flying but the bike I had rented had no computer on it. It was white knuckles all the way down. The dude I rode with was named Andy (if you are reading this) and this was back in '99.

I'm a huge guy, so I love to go downhill, though I frequently go out of my way to climb few more hills. Climbing get's you the lungs.

I'm 147-150(67-68kg) pounds so I climb well and I suck at downhills. I have to attack going up so I don't lose it all going back down :\
