Here in Berkeley... It amazes me how left-wing "hippies" try to be controversial by putting those "jesus fish" things that say Darwin in the middle on their cars... If im not mistaken, this symbol states that creationism will overcome Darwin.

That may be so in the USA... Darwin's origin of species is quite sound: it offers nothing other than a fusion of earlier thoughts (like those of Malthus) along with observations justified by science. How can a bird on one of the galapagos islands having a particular camouflage in line with its surroundings be against the bible? Darwin's observations are replicated easily today... moths being black winged before clean air policies then having light coloured wings within two generations of the clean air policies being enacted. Also, the creationist could therefore doubt the influence of genetics on performance... Interesting! |

As a Roman Catholic, I have very grave suspicions at how some US evangelical
Christians are attempting to enforce the theory of "creationism" over there. I think that there is more at play here than meets the eye. Why would a particular group (US evangelicals) wish to enforce their creed within the education system. If we follow their argument through to it's natural conclusion, Adam and Eve and Genesis are literally true and finite. How can someone in 2005, suggest that every single line of Genesis, word for word, is literally true ? As a Roman Catholic, I have always viewed, especially the Old Testament, as being an analogy. Genesis states that the world and the entire universe were created in six days. Six days. Is that six, 24 hour days ? If this is the case and the creationists would advocate that Genesis is literally true, how can the disparity between the age of the universe and the age of the earth be explained ? Billions of years seperate the creation of earth and the creation of the universe ? The creationist movement is essentially not about the word of God. It is a politically motivated strand of US society which attempts to hi-jack the Bible and to enforce it's (the creationist movements) world view upon other people, in the name of religion. |

Right, Ma Redneck Hillbilly southern friends from below the Mason-Dixon Line, I'd like you give a warm cornbread and moonshine welcome to our latest friend Rafiki, jest the same as ya did for me (don't remember that one). You're all great apart from......... So say Hello to him, I'm sure he'll learn a lot in the soapbox. I did, and a fat lot of good that is. At least I learn't you're sense of humour, and the appreciation of sarcasm as provided mainly by Peabody and his cartoon stick ups. You lot don't leave too many hooks for me, so I learnt to go about in a different way. Y'all come back now.

I believe that their argument is that the evangelicals (holy-roller's) pay tax & education is payed for w/ such tax hence, the curriculum should reflect thier views. Conversely, there is a place where they can get plenty o' that tripe for free, 7 days/week-church ![]()
