Yip, some pretty good roads there. Always avoided them with the bike (only had a mountain bike),but my car had a good time up and down them. Very scenic, and the drivers over all are much more aware of cyclists. Makes a big difference.
The road to the beach is nice, about25km, lekker hill on the way home. And you get to pass about10wine farms, if you need some kind of rehydration. ;D

On the other hand, I've cursed a few drivers before, actually got chased around town by one, me on the bike, him in the car (with the embarrased girlfriend next to him). Quite exhilarating.

Hope you guys enjoy the rest of the day/night. I'm on my way, bed is starting to call. Gotta get up early for my ride, if it doesn't rain. Chat again tomorrow night.
Cheers

Speaking of wiseasses and trolls, I'd like to commend the moderators of this forum for keeping it free of any flamewars, flamebait, and trolls. This forum would be excellent if only it had more activity. I'm like, logged on to the Internet all day long, and I check this website every hour. Most of the time, there are no new posts! However, whenever there are any posts, they are worth reading and responding to. Keep up the great work. I must warn you though, if you want traffic to increase, then trolls and wiseasses are unavoidable. They are a fact of online communities.

Just hope VR_40, the infamous Bicycling troll does not find out about this forum.

Cheers guys, and good morning!

Altwegg buddy, you unfortunately catch the board when most of the regular posters are sleeping. I think Admin, Nicholas, Willie etc. are in the same scenario as you are. Activity has increased alot in the last few weeks, and so has site traffic.
Are there many cyclists in your part of the world, tho?

Unfortunately just over 70% of the daily visitors come to this site between 12am and 4am *(Aus EST) :
I've personnally never looked at it between those times *

Also most people are happy to 'lurk' which is why I have to give away books and bike computers hehe gotta get 'em out of the closet somehow hehe

At a guess I would say about 90% of people lurk and never post.....so if your reading this and lurking, bloody well join and post........please *8)

cheers!

There are quite a lot of cyclists here, but hardly any clubs I know of. Most of us here ride alone, in pairs, or in groups of three. As for me, I ride alone most of the time because none of my friends ride.  Just wondering how I can miss site traffic when Australia is just 2 hours ahead of the time here? Maybe most of you log on and post late at night before sleeping.  ???

You guys are so lucky you can ride on race tracks. I went for a ride with an Australian expat a few months ago, and he said our roads were 'bad.' But we were already riding on the good roads here!

BTW, he told me that a lot of the pros train there (Australia) during winter. Any of you guys get to ride with Zabel, Armstrong etc.?

Altweg, I'm also constantly logged on to this BB and sometimes there is no traffic at all. I think the problem on your side is that most of us are South African and therefore we post while you sleep.

;D Good Morning All!

I see there has been some movement since yesterday.  Sorry to all those overseas people who find this site quiet - you are awake and ready for action, and then none of us are around  :'(
The upside is, you get to read what we've been up to in your absence, and vice versa!
It's the time difference thing...

Some people are commenting that traffic is little on here.  Being the eternal optimist, I would add that rather less people of quality and with information to share, than countless people who make it busy, but with no value.

Admin -  ;D I laughed at your reasons for putting up those competitions, to get those lurking to put fingers to keyboard!   8)

To the South African's online, what's on the agenda today?  :

Hey why not put up Cyclingforums apparel (shirts, jerseys, shorts, caps, or socks) as the prize for participating? That would ROCK. I won a shirt, defeet socks, and a cycling cap from Roadbikereview a couple of months ago, they were SCHWEET. AND make a game out of it like posting the best joke, cycling tip, best looking rider and bike combination [pics uploaded to site?], best looking legs, etc. etc. That way it'd be fun  ;D Just a suggestion

So most of you are from SA ey? I thought this was a dominantly Aussie board, guess I was wrong  :P

Good morning Elsa!

I totally agree with you about having less posters, but having less crappy posts too. Not that my posts are informative  :P.......
