Hi. I'm a newbie so be gentle with me! I live in Southern England and am a housewife (if that's the right way of putting it!) I'm thinking of doing a small, local race in July and as a cycling virgin, am not sure about training programmes etc. I'm starting in the gym on the exercise bike and intend braving the outdoors when it's a bit warmer, but need some tips from anyone who can help. The race is 15 miles and a "bit hilly" but that's all I know at the moment. Can you help?

I live in sw wisconsin, I am curently semi-retired having worked in health care for 34 years. I currently ride an older c-dale(1990) but have just picked up a Dean "el Diente" titanium frameset with an OuzoPro fork and hope to have it built up by spring.

I'm fairly new too!the gym is good to build leg strength[squats] I have a recumbent excerise bike ,but found that it didn't help me very much[ different muscles used] This January I bought a trainer to hook on to my road bike and a few spinnerval dvds.I ride up to 8hrs. a week now 500km.for the month .work on your abs so that you have a strong core section .This is what's working for me.good luck ,maybe some of the other peoplehave better advice.jerry

Hi, I used to ride a Carlton in the 70's, I now have a 1987 LeMond Zurich and have done 4000Km since mid Feb 2007, including a number of races in the lower older grades. The LeMond has needed quite a lot of engineering to get it running nicely. From time to time I have been a race marshal for the top grade racing in Christchurch NZ. Alex.

Hey guys,

Justin here from Oklahoma. Full time student at OU, father of a awesome baby boy, and server at Carinos.

Haven't ridden a bike in 10 years, but I can't wait to get my first road bike and hit the streets!
