I have been riding for exactly.......one week! And I am hooked.
I live in Middle Tennessee.......hill country! So, I am getting lots of practice climbing already! I have recently gone thru some rough emotional times (get ready for some self endulging therapy now!) recently. I have lost 40#, started working out, running and walking....just getting physically fit in general. I own my own business that I am a sales rep for........and met the most amazing guy who got me hooked on cycling about 4 months ago. He tried to get me to start riding then, but I didn't think I could do it. After a bad "split", so to speak, I decided to get on a bike and see if I would like it. I was hooked immediately! I have decided to enter the road racing world........just so I can beat that almost-48-year-old's butt in a race! haha! No, really... I love riding, and have an advantage over most new riders in that I was already working out and getting strong. So, I have started out averaging 14 mph on 15 miles at a time. I hear that's not too shabby! After I get about 250 miles under my legs, I will start riding with the team I have joined in TN. The bike shop owner has a team of about 45 racers and wants me to train with them and race with them next Spring. I love riding........makes me feel close to someone I care very deeply about! Makes me feel free. And I LOVE TO COMPETE! I will turn women's racing on its ear in TN next year!!!!!! haha! Well, wish me luck with it. I love reading the stories on this forum! You guys are inspirational! Kim in TN |

sad, but true. Too bad I was "too small" to play hockey. could only go as far as junior a. But I'm a much better cyclist than hockey player I think. So do you do any of the Midweek rides at the Hershey center? taras |

Great to see you on a bike. Is an awesome form of exercise. Good luck to you racing next spring. Am sure you shall excel as female cycling is easier then male. Less riders to compete again. But if you train with males, shall make beating the other females that much easier....... Memph

Hi, I'm from Pretoria in South Africa. I cycle for the fun (refer to myself as a profesional fun rider). I'm a consultant to the SA mining industry regarding black economic empowerment/preferential procurement.
I want to train every morning, but have time constraints. I usualy get on the bike over weekends, and then I tend to to 3-4 hours long slow distance.

I live in Chico, Ca, Suposidly the most bike friendly town? Ive rode bikes off and on as a kid now im 18 and have no desire for a car sooo that leaves me with a bike!!! I now bike to school and around town everyday and love it. I do all this on a ****y target bike that squeks and rattles. Now that im really starting to love biking a new bike is a must so im saving up now. Bikes are so much more rewarding then cars.

I do Triathlons.... so Im not actually a cyclist according to a lot of people....
usually manage about 3 rides a week, along with my running and swimming and gym work (not as much lately).was going to be doing a half ironman this year, but am now getting married in October and honeymoon November, so has been put off until next year now... I want to qualify for Ironman Australia with an actual qualication time and not a roll down or lottery spot.. just love cycling though.... cheers Mikey

Hi
i'm from belgium, south-east flanders (the heart of Ronde van Vlaanderen - Tour de Flanders). that's very close to the homes of peter van petegem & robbie mcewen (and some other less known pros) i'm student and in my spare time i enjoy to ride my bike here, especially the nasty little hills and the cubblestone streets (like Paddestraat; which should sound familiar with the real, die hard cycling fans) cyas |

I commute to work 41km each way, each day 5 days a week. I don't think of it as training though; just the best way to get to work. I live in Shirley, MA and commute to Marlborough, MA. |
