Sprouts can be lightly steamed in the back pocket during the ride, and instead of carving up a big bird, perch bite-size goslings atop Lumicycle 35W lamps to roast nicely. ~PB |

I could never stand sprouts until I started cooking them myself - previously I'd only had ones which had been boiled until they screamed for mercy and then boiled a bit more to be on the safe side. Having said that, I do boil mine, just not for very long. -- Carol "Mmmmooooowooooff!" - the Moobark, "The Treacle People" |

I forced myself to read all of _Armageddon, The Musical_ and got the impression that he was way too impressed with his own cleverness. _The Antipope_ was rather better though. And, to inject a smidgeon of on-topicness, it features Marchant the Wonder Bike :-) Jasper Fforde suffers a bit from "look how clever I am! " syndrome too, but not nearly as much as Rankin - plus he writes much more sympathetic characters which helps a lot. -- Carol "Mmmmooooowooooff!" - the Moobark, "The Treacle People" |

Pratchett went through a phase when he wasn't so funny (IMHO) but seems to have reverted to form with the more recent books. Rankin seemed to be trying too hard to be funny, rather than creating characters and an environment that is in itself funny. ...d |
