i weighed my mountain bike which is also a 2002 giant, warp ds-3, it weighed in at 40 lbs heavier than myself on the scale. i don't ride it much ![]()

I been commuting by bike on and off for 20 years and have used several bikes. For he last two years I have used a Surly Cross-Check. I purchased the frame through a LBS and had it built with a mixture of new and salvaged parts from my TREK 2300 that I had a wrecked.
I had it built with plan of using it for cyclocross as well as commuting and light trail riding. It has worked well for me in all cases. I have a 30 mile roundtrip commute that I do 4 times a week most of the year. I also use it for long group rides on weekends including a few centuries. I ride around 6000 miles a year. I won't bore everyone with details of the build, just to say that by switching wheels/tires it works great on the paved road or dirt trail. I used 700X32 cyclocross tires for dirt and 700X25 Conti gatorskins for the road. |

Ride Cannondale Cyclocross Disc. Will never ride without disc brakes again! Live in Bremerton, WA (near Seattle). Great in summer since sun is up from 0530 to 2030 or later. Tough in winter for opposite reasons plus rain. Temps mild year round.
