David - they've made themselves an easy target - -
But I did have to stay a a Motel 6 (French owned) when riding from Santa Fe to New Orleans in September. It sucked just the same as every other cheap motel I've been in. Just between you and I, (Don't tell anyone) French Champagne remains the best - I'd love a frame by Look, have Salomon (french) bindings on my skis, Tru-Vativ crankset on my son's new mountain bike, love french breads (Hell, all european breads are better than American breads), had an awesome time living in Toullouse a few years ago, and my first name, and part of my heritage is French.) Just don't share this with anyone. I love the spirited debate this has wrought! But I abhor France's lack of support of US policy. We should either nuke 'em, or make them keep Jerry Lewis. Not sure which is worse. Quote:

Got you now - the French resistance in Paris. Don't think that they were referred to as catacombs though, but I know the place that you're talking about. You're correct. Visited them many years ago : very interesting place to visit. |

[QUOTE=limerickman]So that makes the Italians, Dutch, Germans, British, Spainish all Fem Losers,
as soccer is the most popular sport in each respective nation ? You're a real Einsten, pal ! I don't think soccer will ever take off here. Most children, over here play until high school then move on to football as they age. I, personally, prefer American football because it's more exciting & one does'nt have a 2-3 hr. long game & have the score be 1-0. I think soccer hooligan's (fan's) show more commitment, to the game, than the players. I would pay to watch them fight it out. I just find soccer to be an incredibly boring "snoozefest". We'll just have to disagree because i know soccer is the most popular game in the world.

Dave, our friend questioned the masculinity of soccer players. I merely pointed out, to that clown, that soccer is the most popular sport in many countries throughout Europe. So when he questions the masculinity of soccer players, he is, de facto, questioning the masculinity of all soccer players throughout Europe. I can understand the fact the Americans don't like soccer though. 1-0 result after 90 minutes doesn't resonate in a nation that likes high scoring games. Personally, I am not a soccer fan either. I much prefer rugby when it comes to field sports. As regards American football - I don't rate it. Rugby is a far tougher, more physical sport. I played rugby extensively in my younger days - played against all the rugby playing nationalities. Have played a couple of games of American football - but rugby was certainly tougher than that. I do follow American sport though - I like Baseball and have watched the Sox progress this year. |

You would love Australian rules football. I do have a question about baseball. How do Europeans view baseball? Is there any interest? Just looking for some European input. |

We have a game here called Gaelic Football - not unlike Aussie rules. Every two years, our national Gaelic team, play the Aussies in a compromised version of both games. I'm gonna stand on my soapbox here and tell you all - that Ireland beat them big bad Aussies last week in the latest test series ! you're right though - that Aussie Rules stuff is very tough. As regards Baseball, it never really caught on here in Europe. Cricket is big here and in England and in parts of Europe. Baseball though is followed (by us in the minority). I think it's a great game and would love to see it catch on here. I've followed it for a the past 25 years or so. Ryan Nolan - Roger Clemens - McGwire etc. I don't follow a particular team as such, but I would sit down and watch any/all teams play. It's a great game. |

Becham shags a hot babe like Posh Spice and people start hating him? He show's some testosterone by being cocky and arrogant, and soccer fans start hating him???? What's that all about?
Europeans, by their very nature, abhor masculine behavior. It's why they love fems like Carter & Kerry, and hate men like Bush & Reagan. But everytime the kraut hordes come smashing down their walls, it takes real men from the USA to bail their panty wearing asses out of the fire. For which, they show damned little appreciation. Why? To paraphrase Archie Bunker, "Europe, is a fag contintent." Quote:

First of all, you need to learn to need to be able to spell correctly : the guys name is Beckham, not Becham. Behaviour - you missed the letter U. As regards WW2 - me thinks that the Russians and British repelled the Nazi regime. America was neutral till 1941. |

Beck's wasn't hated for bagging Posh...he was despised for getting so much attention and barely being the 3rd best player on his team at the time. |

From www.lileks.com "I admit. I have a fantasy. Kerry wins. He’s having a summit with Tony Blair. In the middle of the conversation, Chirac calls up; Kerry excuses himself and has a brief chat about a new resolution to let French oil companies bid on reconstruction projects, and they have an amiable conversation in French. Kerry hangs up. “Your predecessor,” Blair says, “spoke to him in English.” “I know,” says President Kerry. “He couldn’t speak French.” “He didn’t have to,” Blair notes. He gives a tight smile. And sighs. And gets down to explaining what now must be done." If Tony B. ran against Kerry in this country, I wonder who'd win? I'd vote for him. Everything else aside, he gets it. He always has. |

1. You are incapable of spelling correctly. 2. We speak english here : you speak mongralised American, by all accounts. 3. While your lot remained neutral and were profiteering from WW2, Britain and the Soviet Union were fighting the Nazi's. 4. see 3 above. 5. Your country's contribution to WW2 has been referred to and commended. As regards saving people, that's open to question. |

As for number 5. OK, if we didn't save anyone, then let's round up the survivors of WWII in Europe, and their survivors, and kill 'em. Since you didn't need us anyway then in fact, they wouldn't and shouldn't exist.

Do you really believe that if Hitler had successfully taken over Europe, he wouldn't have tried to go take on the US?
Also from what I've heard, the US military really had to beef up after Pearl Harbor. It was pretty much in the same state as France even when PH was attacked. Meaning: had the US been in the position of France and not several thousand miles away and separated by an entire ocean, it most likely would have been overrun by Hitler. Then again, you'll probably dismiss this as liberal propaganda or the like... Ah, yet another WWII debate. |
