I'm not sure which is more disturbing; calling Lynn Cheney a Saint or the fact that you referenced American Chopper as a source for your extensive wit. I might need to investigate the avg. IQ for the state of Texas ![]() |

I'll just add a few points here. Firstly, the French aren't pacifist as such. They invaded Russia under Napolean (forgot the date) and were, more or less, beaten back by a combination of the weather and the Russian army.
As for modern, France, it's a fairly middle-ranking European country, although the most powerful at present (since Germany isn't a nuclear power). France is also militarily more powerful than England by far (I speak as a Brit myself). The U.K. depends on the U.S. for defence while France has it's own ballistic missile systems and armoury. With the E.U. now expanding to include Poland, Latvia, Lithuania, Finland e.t.c. the chances are it's France that will have the dominant political role in Europe. But basically I like the French. While in England people are afraid to strike at work, cause chaos over working rights and get out and protest, the French are often up in arms till they get what they want. They're fiercely nationalistic and proud of their culture - which isn't really a bad thing. I'd prefer the Spanish language, though, as it's easier. Quote:

Yes, the French under Napoleon were far different than the French under Chirac. Just as the Americans under Washington were far different than the Americans under Bush/Clinton/Bush. Both societies have devolved in many ways.
As far as the French being more powerful militarily than the British, I doubt it as the French haven't used their military in a meaningful way in more than a century. But if your a Marxist/Unionist, then France is the dump to be in. Quote:

I agree. Societies change in the course of time. On the nuclear issue, I understand the U.K. can't use nuclear weapons without permission from the U.S. That is, the U.K. doesn't have an independent nuclear capacity. France, however, has its own ballistic missiles, subs and bombers. It's nit a super power but compared with the U.K. and Germany, France is presently the top gun in Europe.

That's true, this thread is'nt going to recieve the cycling forums "blue ribbon" for decorum because it's blatantly overt in it's purpose to paint a republican in a good light & it disparages a soveriegn nation who is an important trading partner. You piss them off enough & they won't sell us all of those women's must have accessories (shoe's & bag's) . Not only that, they can tell us to take our spent nuclear fuel & shove it up our arse's. They are one of the only nations who accept our contaminated raioactive material's & reprocess them. Otherwise, I guess, we will have to send it to Texas ![]()

Geez, i know all you americans arent the same, but man, the morons are not shy about telling the whole world about their ignorance and hypocrisy. I mean should we even start on what is irritating about americans or maybe we should concentrate on the ways the country is destroying the world through its approach on foreign policy that even a 5 year old would blush at?. Hey Mr Texas, maybe you should look up in your history book where the statue of liberty came from....

Coulter had two guys run up on stage & throw pies at her for her increasingly incendiary & decreasingly intelligent remarks when she was giving a speech at a college/university. She ran away from the podium like a little girl. Ha Ha. She'd be better off giving her speeches to someone who gives a damn about her tired rhetoric. I don't want to name any organizations, in particular, because she would offend just about anybody posessing a modicum of intelligence. She's a tool for Bush's corporate america. If the repub's are'nt paying her, they should be

Don't know who made america the global policemen they think they are but apparently they're now the judge and jury too!!Having travelled quite extensively in France, i have found the French to be nothing other than polite, courteous and helpful. Even more so when after discovering i am an english speaker, that i am neither an english or american, expecting these people to jump at my every wish and bow to my needs. Bravo to France, they've a leader who has his own will unlike our american puppet, mr blair. Leave the French alone and look at yourselves first before criticising others. Vive la France! and roll on next years Tour.ps. not an american hater, i'll be there again next year hoping Lance wins again or at least competes against the next worthy Tour winner.

"France has neither winter nor summer nor morals. Apart from these drawbacks it is a fine country. France has usually been governed by prostitutes." ---Mark Twain
"I would rather have a German division in front of me than a French one behind me." --- General George S. Patton "Going to war without France is like going deer hunting without your accordion." --- Norman Schwartzkopf "We can stand here like the French, or we can do something about it." ---- Marge Simpson "As far as I'm concerned, war always means failure" ---Jacques Chirac, President of France "As far as France is concerned, you're right." ---Rush Limbaugh "The only time France wants us to go to war is when the German Army is sitting in Paris sipping coffee." --- Regis Philbin "The French are a smallish, monkey-looking bunch and not dressed any better, on average, than the citizens of Baltimore. True, you can sit outside in Paris and drink little cups of coffee, but why this is more stylish than sitting inside and drinking large glasses of whiskey I don't know." --- P.J O'Rourke (1989) "You know, the French remind me a little bit of an aging actress of the 1940s who was still trying to dine out on her looks but doesn't have the face for it." ---John McCain, U.S. Senator from Arizona "You know why the French don't want to bomb Saddam Hussein? Because he hates America, he loves mistresses and wears a beret. He is French, people ---Conan O'Brien "I don't know why people are surprised that France won't help us get Saddam out of Iraq. After all, France wouldn't help us get the Germans out of France!" ---Jay Leno "The last time the French asked for 'more proof' it came marching into Paris under a German flag." ---David Letterman Next time there's a war in Europe, the loser has to keep France!!
