But that's what they plan to give Tyler if he's guilty. Actually, he's 33 1/2 years old now, which is pretty old for a grand tour rider, at least for someone who is hoping to win. If he gets a 2 year ban, he will be 36 when the season gets under way again the following spring. That would be giving up his best years, unless those are behind him already. Tour riders best years are typically around 27 to 33. The ban would pretty much finish him, I think.

Also, don't be too sure that the management of Phonak is not involved. No one wants to admit anything, not even Tyler. How do we know that one of the doctors on his team didn't do something? After all, Tyler is not the only one on Phonak who was busted this year.

I suposse cycling is cycling isn't it, and it just goes with the sport that there is scandal and cover ups and lies often when someone is caught. I agree with you that if Tyler was to be found guilty it would almost be it for him. But hell, look at Virenque hes what...34 and won KoM this year. But then thats about all!! I would hope that Phonak aren't in on it, but the Cofidis thing makes you think its possible. But honestly, i had no idea that the max ban was two years. Thats shocking!! Who do they think they are going to scare by giving away a two year ban???

Just some interesting observations:

1) This same test was in effect during the TDF, so why was it not detected then.
2) If you know that a transfusion of your own blood is not detectable and you were going to cheat then why in the world would you not use your own blood as apposed to someone else's.
3) If there truly are 2 distinct cell populations in his blood samples, then a DNA test would reveal this as well wouldn't it.

None of this really makes any sense to be caught in this manner of doping.

Tyler had a poor showing at the Tour this year. I doubt that he was doping.

Yeah, I don't know why he would use someone else's. Maybe he didn't know that the test worked this well. Maybe it was a relative's blood, and he expected it not to show. Maybe the doctors knocked him out and injected him without his knowledge (doubt it). There are many things to wonder about.

But yes, autologous doping is still nondetectable, according to some of the articles I've read referenced on this thread. I hope they come up with a test for that pretty soon.

If it turns out that Tyler is guilty, they may have saved his life. I bet his death risk is far higher monkeying around with blood transfusions than it is being clean.

The banking of one's own blood for future transfusion causes a temporary state of anemia which interfers with training. To avoid the downside of stocking blood, the tranfused blood is taken from a compatible donor. Unfortunately, the "side effects" include all the associated risks of disease transmission.

As far as the DNA question, I'm still reading...

Hey, easy on the girls. I think a lot of them fell in love with Tyler. He's way up there on a pedestal, and he's not living up to expectations (maybe). They're paying his bills actually by endorsing his products, even unknowingly.

I guess you've never heard of trust. I feel my trust has been betrayed. I trust the atheletes that I support are just as clean as I am. That goes for whatever sport I'm following, not just cycling. It's one of the things that keeps me going out on the road. It motivates me. It inspires me. In some little way I can compare myself to them. I see how much better they are than me, and it makes me want to work harder. I know I'll never be at that level, but I can still dream. And what's life without dreams. When I see that one of my hero's has possibly take a shortcut that I would never take, Yes, I feel betrayed. I matters not whether they care about me or even know if I exist. If it's true, he's let all of us down. Too bad you can't see that and how it affects you.

PS I'm not a girl, and now I'm offended....

That's a good one, as if you're just visiting and not interested in cycling.

Sorry! I guess a lot of guys admired Tyler greatly too. I suppose a moniker can be misleading on these websites. Mine's kind of generic. I can think of a few things it can be short for.

Maybe, but is your original comment meant to be directed to me or to the character who posted the scanner proof profanity above? If it's to me, you have me a little bit baffled.
