I dont understand why the media build up this man. ITV paradoxically extolling him while giving Armstrong grudging praise as Armstong destroys him day after day after day.

The simple fact is Ullrich is not even approaching the same class as Armstrong and never was and never will be.
Unfortunately I think Jan Ullrich will be remebered as being very good rather than great. Personally I think that is fair enough. There are other riders with great records who had the misfortune to run in to great Tour de France champions. Joop Zoetemelk as I mentioned in another thread ran 2nd six times and had one victory. He won scores of other races, World Championships, classic single day races yet no-one suggests that he had more class than the men who beat him. That's just the way sport is.

Alot of you loons are missing the point.

Ullrich gets praise over and above Armstrong despite the facts. Every year him or his team have an excuse.

There have been a vast number of more gifted, technical cyclists than Ullrich. Ullrich just has power. Compared to Armstrong he has none of his intelligence, technical ability on a bike, ability to sprint, metaphorically change gear etc etc and people like ITV go on about him ad nauseum.

Limerickman - you havent a notion about Dublin you bogger.

And the personal abuse - from a bunch of fanatics for a fat german waster - is music to my ears so pray continue.

I suspect using the abbreviation, you might well be Irish.

Stop talking through your arse, please.

Limerickman (formerly of Dublin - where the name Dermot is abbreviated to Dermo).

Hey Dermo,

Born and raised in Terenure, pal.

When you win a TDF - then start having a crack about how much lack of talent Ullrich has ?
In the mean time, as I said before.......
