Don't know if it is my favorite, but I always thought Ned Overend was a good (fun) name for a mtn biker. That's what happens when you find yourself on the wrong side of an escarpment... I had two cats, Bill and Ted, Ted is still alive and getting fat in Michigan with my parents. They never responded to names, but were well acquainted with: A) Door opening (usually front, when I got home, their cue to terminate their mischief immediately and hide.) B) Can being opened C) Motorized squirt gun (used to break up fights, get them off table, etc.) D) Treat tin Anything else is pretty much typical "do as I please" cat behavior (though I do remember a friend training a cat to fetch!) Despite all the cute junk I see in papers and magazines about people taking animals on bikes and motorcycles, I found trying to transport and un-caged cat on a bike a harrowing experience. |

I woldn't have believed that but I knew some people who lived on a boat who trained their cats that way. First they would put a leash on them and there was a lot of pulling. But after awhile the cat would get the idea and then walk right along with them. |

Some breeds of cats do this almost instinctually. > Despite all the cute junk I see in papers and magazines about people > taking animals on bikes and motorcycles, I found trying to transport > and un-caged cat on a bike a harrowing experience. Some cats really like going for rides while others are terrified. Winston is of the later leaning. |

But I can tell you with complete certainty that snakes don't respond to their names. So I don't name 'em unless I have to take one to the vet. (They always want a name...) -- tanx, Howard "Moby Dick was a work of art, What the hell happened?" remove YOUR SHOES to reply, ok? |
