I can't really recommend anywhere in particular because I'm a little out of
touch with the current prices for these things. Once you have one you tend
to stop shopping around. I got mine from www.dickinson.com.au who are in
Fitzroy. My guess is the price of the 720i will start to drop as the new
model, 725i, starts to replace it so there should be some good prices
starting to appear.
Before you buy from OS you might want to check if the warranty will still be
honoured here in Aust. just in case you require it.
Also to complete the package you will want to get yourself the infra-red
gizmo for uploading your data to a PC and a Cadence Sensor Kit. (and if you
really really want the "power output sensor kit")

I would never class the 720i as a replacement for a wired cycle computer as
it, being wireless, can sometimes give incorrect readings when riding
anywhere near HT powerlines or Trams. I use it to complement the data from
the wired computer and record the ride data for later analysis. I also find
the delay in displaying Cadence info slightly annoying on the 720i so I
generally use the wired computer for this as it gives realtime info.

Yeah.. all day Saturday AND Sunday... was gonna post my
ride apologies but didn't have time. Next week I should be
all clear for a bunch thang.

My new loop takes in Stage 1 of the DeBortoli Yarra Valley tour:

Dudes.. we need a better name for the "Bunch Ride".
I downloaded last week's and calling it Bunch Ride
when there's a hundred other bunch rides is silly :P

What's the acronym off the first letters of all the
suburbs we pass through?

Maybe the "Doncaster/Warrandyte bunch" or the
"aus.bicycle North East Melbourne faction Sunday
morning road bunch" or how about the "It's too
damn early on a Sunday morning bunch"?
Shorten that to fit nicely in Polar software and it
could be the TDE bunch? Too Damn Early
The "I'd be there but I've got XXX on, bunch"?
The "can't crack 80kph bunch"
The "snob us and trackstand and we'll push you
over bunch"?
The "couple of trackies in the hills bunch"
"FD's Green Machine and the rocketing roadies"

hippy
- severe lack of brain function apparent

Recovery is going well thanks. I'm getting my neck-brace off on Friday week. Can't wait.

I've started doing spin classes at Aquarena YMCA (Doncaster). Did a good session last night. 2 hours of a 'Tour De France' ride. I was pretty cool how it was set up. We had hill climbs, time trials, flat stages and a final sprint. I must look pretty goofy doing it in a neck brace.

before any of you guys look at buying Polar HRM over the net you must read the following [URL=http://www.polarusa.com/consumer/attention.asp]
it shows the names of dodgy sites and also that buying off ebay is considered to be buying second hand so there will be NO WARRANTY!!!!!!!

Yep, apparently so.
Thats why I bought from NK in Canberra who are a warranty agent and repairer
for Polar.
No hassles buying with Visa over phone and delivered to Townsville 3 days
later. All up S150 was $65 less than best price quoted here. They use a
courier service and package has to be signed for which can be a problem
hanging around waiting.

"Notice To Internet Shoppers
You should ensure that you purchase your new Polar products from an
authorised Polar dealer. If you are unsure if a Polar dealer is authorised,
you should contact Pursuit Performance for clarification on Ph08) 8100
8600.

Polar products that are purchased from unauthorised resellers WILL NOT be
covered under Polar's 2-year warranty. Additionally, you may potentially run
the risk of buying a refurbished or reconditioned unit.

When you buy from an authorised Polar dealer you can be sure that you are
receiving a new product and the backing of a 2-year warranty we extend to
our customers who purchase from authorised dealers.

Also, any Polar product sold on an open auction site (eg. e-bay) is
considered to be the re-sale of a previously owned product and not purchased
from an authorised Polar dealer and will not be covered under the 2-year
warranty extended to the original purchaser. This is regardless of the
condition of the product.

I checked out this site, it is cheaper than pursuit performance site... s720i is going for $492. i'll keep checking... not sure whether to spend another 30 and get the s725 though.
