Default sweat while biking

I find that i sweat profusely in the groin area. I bike to and from work,
and there is no showers there.

Can you apply either a spray or a stick deoderant to that area?

If i do, i would keep it seperate from what i put on other areas.

Looks like we already had to think about this problem of yours in a previous
thread in March...

On a more useful note, a quick google turned up some funky talc which is
described as:

"Total body formula designed to prevent human odor by preventing the growth
of odor causing bacteria. Use after showering and remain scent free even
when you sweat. Apply to entire body, especially high odor areas such as
underarms, scalp, feet & groin."

Nice.

Maybe something like that is the answer.

Use Corn Starch, it is very good at absorbing moisture and does not
clump like baby powder. I have one of those Rubbermaid catchup
dispensers full of it and I use it every morning when I'm getting ready.

one thing i should have mentioned -- i get my newsgroups through outlook
express. I clean it everynow and then. i dont have it that far back.

I didnt worry too much when it was cold, as i was not getting warm enough to
sweat. It is getting warm enough to start to be a problem. I shall try some
of the easy ideas ... i dont care if i am white, since no one sees there at
work.

wwww.cyclingforums.com has nothing to do with this newsgroup other than they
provide some sort of usenet portal. Whatever discussion is being referred
to was there, not here. But you never know, it could be useful info. AFAIK,
that would be a new topic for amb.

If you're sweating enough that you're considering using deodorant on
your groin, stay away from powders of any sort (talc or cornstarch) -
they'll turn to dough in your creases.

Generally speaking sweat doesn't have much of an odor until the bacteria
on your skin go to work on it. Deodorant soaps work by reducing the
skin bacteria that you need to work up a truly eye-watering funk. If
you shower with antibacterial soap in the morning before you leave, once
you get to work a quick wipe down with unscented baby wipes, and dry
clothes should be enough to keep you from stinking.

If you're truly worried about groin sweat, or you have health concerns
that mandate keeping your crotch dry (saddle sores) you can use a high
powered antiperspirant in the area. Certain-Dri is available without
prescription although you may have to ask the pharmacist to order it for
you. After you shower, towel off, roll the stuff on and use a blow
dryer to get it totally dry before you get dressed so you don't get it
on your clothes. You will not sweat. You will be so dry you'll squeak
like new shoes when you walk. For days. Honestly, though, unless
there's a medical indication, I think it's overkill.

He was replying to me I think, I hit the wrong button on OE. I was going to
post:

"Let it all out now, this has been covered. Leave some baby wipes at the
office, the unscented kind will do. In the USMC, when we go to the field we
hump with some in the pack. I can't guarantee you'll smell like roses, we
never did... though it may suite your purpose better. As far as the
deodorant goes, most of them leave that white powdery residue and the
antiprespirant dries the skin. Don't say I didn't warn you."

Michael: if you want to look for a post that has probably been discussed, go
to Google, click on the "groups" button, go through the list until you come
to whatever group you want to search, then type in keywords like any other
web search. You don't need to select a group - you can search all - but
picking a group narrows the hits to what you can use. When someone tells
you to google a post, that's what they mean.

So, if you are inclined to, say, ask about tubeless tires, Google it first
or 95 people will flame you up and down.

Not being a dick, just trying to help.

Chris

You might try some "manscaping" in that area; you'll stay a lot cooler.
Not saying to shave down there, just trim it a bit.
Hair clippers work well.

Wow, I'm having a banner day -- I just got finished writing a post
about how I shaved my pubic hair into a Hitler moustache.
Cool and airy!
