Sealed bearings man, no rocks or sticks contaminate your bearing.

I don't believe in sealed bearings either. But how would lubing the
bearings keep the swingarm from cracking in the middle? Could there
possibly be enough stiction to stress the swingarm?

I didn't think so either - seems like the pivot would stop functioning
long before that became an issue (e.g. one bearing fully seized). But
I've never owned an FS so wanted to avoid the syndrome of pontificating
without experience. On the other hand, this is Usenet - what could I
have been thinking?

Why would you think that stuff was unbreakable? They don't do anything
really special in making their cranks.

Did you happen to catch this one? It looks sorta familiar.

And you always sound like a guy who likes to make glowing recommendations
about the stuff he buys without using it for long enough period to form a
valid opinion.

Well I found a pretty interesting thread about JD and his Trek, sounds
remarkably similar. Pot calling the kettle black??

I like the Jamis frames, one bad production is not gonna change that.

They taste like crow fool. At least I'm man enough to admit it. Should I get

Hey, no problem.

This first one is glowing pretty bright!

"Even though mine broke (and has since been
replaced under warranty), I still think that the Y ride is a
damn good one for the money and I intend to ride it until it
breaks again."

"when we rode at Bartlett, I was wishing I had my Y
bike that had been in warranty replacement since mid-December"

A poster wrote he was going from a Trek 820 to a
Trek Y-Bike and JD replied:

"You'll love the difference Mikel. Going from my lead sled Trek 850 to
my Y11, I surely did."

In response to an ad for a URT Y-11 on EBay:

"Yeah?, so what's the spec?
JD interested in a Y11"

Talking about his Trek Y bike, JD wrote:

"I like mine and still think that for an older design,
it's a great bike."

It's time to backpedal or eat it too.

Well, they do have a reputation for quality, and besides, they're too
pretty to break ;-)

Now that's just scary :-( I pray that I never experience something like
