Some people will steal anything. Whatever you ride, if someone pinches it, that creates a problem for you. We had a rash of cycle thefts at work once (bikes kept in a covered area of the car park with cycle racks). They caught the kids who were doing it, and since then my employer installed CCTV in the car park, but I've always double-locked my bike since then.

I had my bikes stolen at work twice in past years. Ever since I do my best to lock them in a relatively secure place such as the basement or in a secure parking. Currently I work in an army base. The downside is having to work in a shed as an office, but there is a good side to it - I can put the bikes just in front of my office door and watch it. Even so I put a simple lock on it just to be on the safe side, in case I happen to leave the office for a few minutes.
BTW, I had quite a fight about getting them into the base, but eventually I won . Apparently there is an insurance issue and also some politics involved

I bring mine in the building and either store it in the locker room or in another unused office. (Oh...I'm a Police Officer!) If the company you work for does not supply bicycle racks or an area to secure it...bring right on in and put it in your office!

Ride safe...and often!
