If, for you, French women have a 'je ne sais quoi', then you must be prepubescant. The Tour d'Eiffel rocks. Yikes. Good Stilton yes, but you can't beat unpasteurised French cheeses. West country bacon. The Best.

A wonderful list of reasons that France is great. You've covered all the stuff that I love -- fabulous restaurants, the world's best wine, roaming through Paris, the TDF. I also love the French people, and laugh at the myth that Parisians are particularly rude or snobish. My best line in French is "Sorry, I don't speak French," yet so many people have been friendly and kind to me as I've wandered around Paris. I've run into more rude behavior in New York or Washington or London that I have in Paris, but there's a bit of it in any large city. Please let me debunk the notion that "Americans hate France." It's very much off base. There is a minority of small-minded Americans who seem to be unhappy about virtually everything -- foreign and domestic. The rest of us don't much like them, so we've sent them to live in what we call "The Red States" where they can be angry among themselves. (Forgive me, you Red Staters, who are not among the angry ones.) Seriously, however, I find all the jingoistic, nationalist sniping distressing and depressing. My dream when I become fabulously wealthy is to sponsor a cycling team of international riders that will be called "One World." |

No, I'm not prepubescent, and yes, the Eiffel tower most certainly rocks, despite some misguided individuals thinking that maligning things that most people like will make them appear to be individual and eccentric and cool. ![]() |

Oh, Shut it. Why did I ever leave France? I have never had any trouble with the verb 'croire', to believe/think, and don't come back with the verb 'penser' to think. I'll check this out with Basta. Now don't tell anyone but the other bit is a game, If you see an American post, you pop one on. See y'in chip ole.

Is that the same demographic breakdown (the division between Jesusland - and the progressive USA) as in the pre-civil map ? The blue bits on the East and West Coasts and the red (neck) bits in the middle of the USA map ? |
