The wife is an auditor and if you saw the profiatability of that place - you'd know that those profits are achieved by exploiting the fact that they don't pay their workforce well.
That place is a shit hole.

as someone who deal's with shannon aerospace on a daily basis, (dealing with management and the guy's on the floor) i have to agree, the place is a shithole, the hours are terrible, but i also know that this is because of the nature of the business.
i deal in aircraft spares and i know that the profit margins in this business are not huge. dont get me wrong, i'm not defending shannon aerospace, let me give you an example of what im talking about, i could get an aircraft part in stock where i work, the part might cost the company $25,000, we could make somewhere in the region of a $400 or $500 dollar profit.
the simple fact is this, in this business you either do what you can to make your company survive, or you go under. it is as simple as that.
as i said earlier, im not defending shannon aerospace in any way , shape or form, but i do, to a certain extent understand it.
no one "HAS" to work there, though some might feel that they dont have a choice, they do. they can either stop complaining about working there and look for something else or they can stay miserable and stay working for a pittance for the rest of their lives.
its really down to them.

Anyway back to Shannon Aerospace Lufthansa. A young qualified aero engineer of my aquaintance went to work there, and his wage was e21,000, out of that he had to pay for board and lodging. He left, and now works for Ugandan Airways (freight) at Gatwick. Salary? e38,000, and he lives at home again.
Name? Sanjay Patel. They really are taking the piss out of youse people.

Hey everybody.

I am a second year rider (2 centuries under my belt so far), and am heading over to Ireland for a two week vacation this coming Saturday. My wife 2 kids and I will be doing a lot of travelling the first week, but the entire second week, I will be using a friend's house as a "home base". He lives in County Kerry.
Becuase I have the wifey and two kids coming, I am finding it hard to ship my bike over as well. I was wondering if anyone knew of a shop that rents decent roadbikes?. I currently ride a Specialized Tarmac Comp, and would like to try to keep thinks as normal as possible if I have the opportunity to ride over there. Please let me know. The time I would need the bike is from Saturday, May 28th through Wednesday, June 1st. I appreciate any help you guys could provide.

Could be a bit of a problem getting a road bike for hire as they all seem to offer MTB's or at best hybrids. I would suggest that you ring O'Callaghan Cycles of College Street, Killarney, 003536431175, they should be able to provide you with something decent or direct you to someone who can help.

Hello Everyone,

Just thought I'd introduce myself. I'm from Dublin and I'm just getting into the sport and loving it. I'm covering about 100km's a week. I've been cycling for a month and have cycled from Tallaght to Glendalough via sally's gap in four hours. Is this a good time for a beginner? Anyway, just thought I'd say hello.

I'm an ex-pat Dubliner living in Limerick (wife is from this part of the world).
But I used to cycle competitively back home in Dublin and the Embankment/Sally Gap/Glendalough/Wicklow Gap/Hollywood/Blessington/Dublin used to be my old training route.

You did Glendalough in a good time for someone who's only started.
Sally Gap get's a bit tougher once you cross the small bridge 3/4's of the way up, eh ?

I went over that course a few weeks back - the Embankment is getting busier and busier with traffic each time I cycle it.

Martin from Dublin here, though spend alot of time in Killorglin(Caragh Lake) Kerry, Pretty much a rookie but completely bike nuts according to the wife! On a borrowed Specialised Allez comp at the moment but looking at buying either a Carbon Paganini from Humpfies in Finglas or a Cervelo Soloist Carbon if I can find a dealer/wholesaler. Anyone a member of Bray Wheelers here??

I was just wondering if any of ye could tell me when the general cycling season runs in Ireland. I just finished competing in the Irish Rowing Champs there so my season is finished. I really want to give cycling a crack this year. Is there any competition in Ireland for the winter months and to compete do i have to be affiliated with a cycling club?
