I'm looking for something along the lines of this, frame or complete:
Year: 2003/2004
Type: Dual Suspension
Weight: Under 13.5kgs for complete, I dont know how heavy these sorta frames are.
Price: Up to $3000 Australian for complete, up to $1000 Australian for frame.
Riding: XC Race, Social Freeride, Social Street.

Yeah, i'm pretty picky about it, lol, but these are what I have come up with.
2004 Jamis Dakar XLT 2.0 and 2004 Kona Dawg.

Also, i'm looking to upgrade to Manitou Sherman Flick.

Well 13.5 kg is a tad heavy for a race bike but It can get the job done. You'll have a hard time building a light bike with a Sherman flick though. The fork is over 5 pounds and a bit too tall for quick steering. You might want to consider something lilke a Fox vanilla or even a talas which will allow you to drop the height for racing. A Psylo with u-turn might be another option although its not as stiff.

Yeah, I can agree with you there, 13.5 KG is heavy for a XC race bike, but i've been using my 15 KG hardtail for everything, so i'm used to it.
I'm going to save weight but have the flick by having lightweight but strong components, like Maxm.
I can see you point with the long travel sherman not be too good for XC, but it does have 90-130mm travel, and the back has 130mm, and from what i've heard, its good to have the front and back around the same.

Seems like you have the money to waste, so go with a Fisher Cake...less cash, less weight...what more can you ask for?

Actually, I dont have all that much money to waste...I wish I did becuase i'd go straight to the Cannondale Gemini Range...lol.
Anyway, I think i'll just go with the Jamis, becuase its good value, lightweight, and so on...

XC race and freeride are a long way apart from each other in terms of equipment

if you try and race XC on a freeride rig with 5 inches of travel you had better be prepared to spend a lot of time in last place

Hmm...maybe i'll go hardtail, i've got the advice of a few bike companies.
I'll post a topic for suggestions of hardtails.
