Hi , I'm looking at getting a new bike really soon. My budget is under AUS$900.
What i am thinking of is as follows:
Double or Triple Butted frame
As much shimano deore components - V-brakes,
Rock Shox Judy TT
What i need is something really really tough, cause i hammer my bike around. Weight isn't an issue cause my current bike weighs a ton.
How do the deore components compare to alvio and acera parts? Is it worth forking out the extra money for deore. And if i couldn't afford all deore, which parts should i down grade to a lower level.
Are rock shox judy tt alright? i need something adjustable cause i like to race on the road occasionally.
Also what brands are strong and reliable?
cheers James

This seems to be a pretty common price point for people looking for new bike at the moment.
For $900 Aus i'd suggest looking for a second hand bike that is less than a year old, there are plenty out there and they have a lot of advantages
1. you will probably get something that retailed for over $1200
2. It will be pretty much new
3. A lot of these bikes are sold because people upgrade or don't use their bikes so they are often in good condition
4. It means an upgrade in parts including occasional cable discs and LX bits
Look for a Giant, Norco or Merida, they offer some good bikes at competitive prices
also look at some of the other posts on similar topics that have come up recently, lots of opinions and stuff there!
