looking to buy a mountain bike auy suggestions?
Hi

im just starting out and i am looking to buy a mountain bike.
i was looking at a bike (Learsport Dh 24sd) on a site www.learsport.com/dh24sd.htm
If anyone could tell me if they have heard of this brand and if there any good or not would be great.

Also any suggestions on any other bikes under $1500 (AUS dollars) would be helpful. Thanks

What sort of riding are you going to do?

A downhill style bike like the one you linked is going to be pretty heavy, and really suck if you will be using it just on basic firetrails/singletrack/paths etc.

I'm looking for something that i can use on paths, roads but mainly dirt trails, jumps so it needs to be able to take some rough conditions.

Thanks

If your looking for a bike to ride trails and give it jump abuse, why not check out the DMR frames, the new switchback frame is pretty good if you want to ride all day and get some air: my M8 picked one up 2 months ago, and its a sorted package, but even in the 16 inch size it may be a bit large if jumping is your main thing. But if jumpimgs your thing look at the trail star (I have one), its a sorted solid frame, at a price that would allow you to throw on really decent kit, if your budget is that of the learsport. Santa Cruz Chameleon frame is also worth checking out. Good Luck, Steve

Check out the Giant NRS frame/bikes.
Also, if you're just starting out, why are you looking at $1500 bikes?

For $1500 you won't get a full suspension bike that can handle the big hits constantly

you can get a decent hardtail with disc brakes and Lx level components and perhaps a second hand XC full sus bike but for serious dirt jumping or heavy trail riding you will need to spend a bit more to get something that won't break
