Does anyone know if there are any other manufacturers that make stuff
like this, or mounts to use your own digital cameras?

I've got an Oregon Scientific cam which I think is pretty good. Got it
for $80 on eBay. Here it is at Target:

If you want to see a good helmet cam how-to (and some sick videos!)

a good vga digital camera is the aqua-shot, it costs $28. Also has a
very good waterproof casing that you can take pics underwater. Or you
can take it out of the waterproof casing, like the hero. The quality of
the pics are equivalent to what those film disposable cameras give you.
In other words, forget the landscape shots. But if you want to take
pics of people on bikes, it should do fine. Also you need an xp
computer to upload the photos, win 98 will not work with the software
you get with the camera.
