Gosh, those insurance companies must be run by idiots. I am sure with your vast experience with vehicle crash statistics, you'll be able to tell the insurance companies how to adjust their rates to make more money. Funny how the guy who high handedly dismisses any anecdotal experience and generalizations by other posters gets his panties in a bind when confronted with decisions made with huge amounts of data he doesn't have access to. All he can do is make a limp dicked argument about "short term profits" and "non-existant coverage for pre-existing conidtions." What lack of health insurance has to do with auto insurance rates I have no clue, but demonizing the inurance companies is always a good way to draw attention away from lack of reasoning.
No, they just use creative interpretation of statistics to sell to idiots like you.

I can't believe that you are subscribing to the belief that there are no generalized characteristic differences between the users of different types of cars. You should ring up the car companies... cause their whole marketing strategy is based on specific targeted demographics, gender and disposable income sets. You could save them millions in wasted advertising and design strategies by letting them in on the revelation that all car buyers are random.
Uh-huh.

Uh-huh.Except that they have the records of who buys their cars... and since they continue with this strategy... I'm going to guess that it is backed up by the results.

Brilliant. Concise and to the point. You can't argue with that type of logic.

I am going to guess that if it wasn't backed up by results they would go out of business or get their clocks cleaned by the competition.
Of course it's much easier to dismiss things as "creative interpretation of statistics." Yeah, that's the ticket. Nothing to back it up but maybe someone reading this will buy that bit of bullshit.

Case in point: the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety is now pushing for laws to limit sport bikes based on their own flawed data which allegedly shows that sport bikes account for an exceptionally large percentage of accidents per user. However, what they failed to mention is that their data actually shows that cruisers account for the highest percentage of accidents per user.
There are more.

Oh come now. Really, Bro'. Given your Mental Giant status, aren't you big enough to acknowledge the BS that you spew, eh? I mean, really. A down to earth guy like you should be able to own up to all the crap that flies off your keyboard that is far from factual. Really. Read on, baby cakes.

Since Alienator has been studying physics for so long, I guess it's not too surprising that his logic tends to obey the Heisenberg Uncertainty Principle: try to locate it and it disappears.

Oh, Francis got his feelings hurt.
I can't wait for alienator to next deny that young drivers insurance rates are justified in being higher. I am sure it's all creative interpretation of statistice.

There are more. That doesn't prove the data is wrong. You even based your argument on "their data", which assumes that their cruiser data was correct.
Its just an example of political bias affecting a decision in a small, small segment of the market. Can't make big mistakes on the numbers with SUV's, Buicks, and sports cars though.

OK, BMW'ers, please stop trying to confirm my observation:

Through careful study and statistical research I can honestly state without reservation that bad people suck.
They are also irritating.

I have come to the same conclusion as the OP.
My opinion was formed when during a single 18 mile commute one rainy evening a couple of years ago (I was driving), I was cut off three times by three different vehicles, and all of them were BMW's. This was commuting to my job in San Mateo California overlooking a country club, so luxury cars were pretty common.
It would be interesting to see what the true statistics are...
I do think that because cars are marketed towards certain personality traits that it is reasonable that drivers of certain cars will have a propensity toward certain driving practices.
When considering European luxury cars at the time, my hypothesis was:
Mercedes attitude = I own the road, but I am civilized enough that I don't need to prove it.
BMW attitude = I own the road, so KMA!!!
In my mind this is a corollary to another hypothesis of old money versus new money. Many rich families will live a luxurious life, but respect those around them, since they are the laborers making their riches. They have no need to flaunt their wealth or superiority. Those who have come into money think they deserve what they have because it is the fruit of their labor, and they will continue to step on the people they stepped on during their ascent.
I have never tested either of these with a sample larger than situations I remember.
Generalizations are rarely true for everyone, but they are often true for some. :)

I'm going to go with none of the above, that there is, in fact, no correlation between the car someone drives or the motorcycle someone rides, and their behavior.
Interpretations, though, of the behavior of drivers in certain car makes or on certain motorcycles are easily biased by an incident or two.
I'll have to agree with you in general. However, I have to say that out of about 10 serious encounters with hostile drivers, most of them were driving pickup trucks. Nothing wrong with pickups.......I just think that there are a lot of insecure shitheads out there who need to drive a big vehicle to make up for .......ah.......let's just say inadequacies in their nether regions. There has to be a common reason that these idiots always scream "F*%#ing Faggot!" as they veer onto the shoulder while passing.

Maybe they are shouting out what they do as their passtime and or hobby.

I've never thought about it that way. I'm sure you're absolutely right.

I'm going to continue to disagree with the "no correlation between driver behavior and type of car".
I don't have the data... but I have experienced more little old ladies driving Toyota Camry's as a percentage of total observed Camry drivers than I have seen little old ladies driving F150 pick ups with monster tires and raised suspensions as a percentage of total observed drivers of F150 pick ups with monster tires and raised suspensions.
