Decent record keeping when un-metered...
Hello
I wonder whether the experts on here would give me some guidance on how best to go about keeping decent records when away from my gear but still riding, the story is this...
I train with a PowerTap and a Computrainer and am steadily building my CTL in readiness for next year when I'm riding a number of UK sportive events and La Marmotte, I store all my info in WKO+
Now, the problem is last year my wife and I went on a 2 week sailing holiday in the Greek islands in the middle of Summer (http://qcfield-boden.fotopic.net/c1331948_1.html) which was lovely but very bad for cycle training! This year for a change we are going to do a 2 week tour in the UK on our tandem (http://qcfield-boden.fotopic.net/p34144893.html) which should be better for my bike fitness but from which I obviously cannot collect meaningful power data!
What's the best thing to do to try to ensure that my CTL values remain sensible and meaningful when they include this period, I'm sure this isn't a new problem! Can I get anything useful by just recording my HR and time and distance as this is really the only data that will be available to me.
Thanks for any help you may be able to give.
Cheers.

During your trip take notes after your riding days on how you felt, take a swag at the IF of your ride and note how long you rode. Enter these as manual workouts in WKO+ when you get home. Your rides will probaby be easier but perhaps longer and likely less continuous than pure training rides(depending on your wife and if you'd like to stay married :) ) But you can still estimate IF and track time.
It's better than nothing,

Hi Dave
Thank you for that. I've just tried making a test entry and it seems that I have to put in the time, distance. and estimated IF and the system works the rest out, apart from the average HR and cadence? Seems Ok but the problem I have is if I try to add a workout for a date in the past which is what I'll be doing as it seems to insist on adding the workout to today's date and I can't find the way round this
Regards.

...it seems to insist on adding the workout to today's date and I can't find the way round this ...Double click the date on your calendar page for the date you want to add the manual workout. Make some journal notes if you want, then use the pull down options menu in the upper right hand corner of the daily journal page and add a manual workout from there. You can go back in time and add one or more manual workouts(you can always add a second calendar entry for any day by right clicking the calendar date and adding a new workout for that date)for any day past, present, or future. I do it all the time when returning from business travel where I train on hotel gym ergs.

Thanks very much again, worked a treat but not immediately obvious how to do it! You ever been nominated for a very helpful person award? If not you should be :)
Cheers.

Surely not, your priorities seem to be spot on to me:
Cycle training.
Helping with domestic chores.
Nothing unreasonable about that :D
