Living and cycling in and near Croydon
Hello!

I'll be moving to London for 6 months and need to find a place to live that will be close to an area I can use for cycling (for recreation, not commuting). Currently I live in Zagreb, Croatia, near the Jarun lake which has a 6.5 km (4 mi) cycling track around the lake (http://tinyurl.com/2ae4bs). Is there something similar in and around Croydon? I ride my bike ~ 18 mph and I've read that in parks like Richmond park there's a speed limit, so that might not be appropriate? I'll be working in west Croydon (towards Mitcham) so preferably it would be close, but not necessarily. The neighborhood should preferably be more lively and urban and less boring ;)

Thanks for your comments!

There are hundreds of miles of brilliant cycling in the countryside in easy reach of Croydon and Mitcham. News of weekend rides is on the LCC rider list; http://groups.yahoo.com/group/lccrider These are organised by the CTC, London Cycling Campaign, Pollards Hill Cyclists and others. Pollards Hill is on the Mitcham / Croydon border. www.pollardshillcyclists.org.uk/
