Mountain Bike Orienteering - hybrid tyres
I've signed myself up to have a crack at Mountain Bike Orienteering (http://wa.orienteering.asn.au/events/2007events/2007MTBO/?EventID=398) this weekend out at Carinyah (Western Australia). I'm not competing officially, as I'm confident that the correct age/gender course will trash my dodgy knee and put me off my road bike for weeks.

I'm riding a hybrid (Giant Sedona) as I don't have a proper mountain bike. It currently has hybrid tyres on it. My experience thus far is that my hybrid tyres are total rubbish on gravel, particularly when going uphill.

Does anyone have suggestions as to what tyres I could maybe use to give me a chance of staying on the bike up hills and - dream of dreams - not being totally thrashed by the more elderly ladies on the course?

Cheers,
K

That's easy: Schwalbe tires, Nobby Nic up front, Racing Ralph on the back.
