Enough!

enough doping! i know pros read these posts. we all love to hear our names spoken by outsiders. so here is my vow: if contador, leipheimer, Dave Z, big Maggie, robbie, freddy, danielson, or any other "heavy hitter" (not some european rider no one has heard of) is positive....im going to let my magazine subscription go. and i wont Tivo any race. i will boycott pro cycling. from that point on i wont even care about the Tour!!! that is saying a lot, but i mean it. ill keep my attention to my local races only; the guys i race with. that will be as high as i go.

Of course cycling has a bad image right now but UCI wouldn't be doing the right thing if it wasn't catching drug cheats. And the recent spate of indictments is a sign that the right thing is being done.

The lack of "scandal" in other sports doesn't mean that cycling is the only sport with cheats. It is the only sport that is catching and punishing them.

Say Zabriskie was cheating. Would you rather he was found out or would you rather him getting away with it? And why be biased against "europeans"? How many of them do you really know?

i must emphasis the word "if". and i aggree with you. if DZ were caught doping, then i would fullfill my promise. however, it would be relieving to know that cycling was without another cheater (right before i delete my "to record" list on Tivo). and the european comment was an example; not to be taken literally.

oh yeah, i saw this table where the y-axis was a list of popular sports and the x-axis had the number of offenses. the table had what happens to and athlete in a particular sport after the 1st, 2nd, etc offenses. cycling had only one or two tolerated offenses before the rider was booted forever. whereas baseball, football, etc went all the way up to multiple offences before being kicked out for good. eventually, i hope that cycling will be widely known as the sport NOT to cheat in because the cheater will get caught; no way around either.

It sucks, because the only race non-cyclists watch is the Tour. This year, there were tons and tons of positives, so everyone now is thinking, "hey, cyclists do drugs". If only they could see real races with racers who dont put thier careers on the line.
