Do you think FEMA are over-compensating by offering the evacuees free massages?
After Bush and his flunkie Brownie failed during Katrina, all politicians are frightened of repeating the same mistake. How can anyone be expected to spend a few days away from their home without free yoga classes?
I cannot wait for the politicians to fight over themselves in a bid be the first with the most when it comes to giving out money to people who built their houses in fire danger zones.

+1. I'm waiting for a politician (and/or news reporter) to randomly select one of the thousands of houses burned down and take his shirt off for an hour to help rebuild it, with cameras rolling of course.

Us poor Aussies have a federal election coming up in a month - maybe you'll see our Prime Minister John Howard over in California with his shirt off (aaahhhh), he seems to really like doing things that your President tells him to.

Hey JJ - Who's going to win the election do you think (are the polls close, or saying its going one way)?

Hey some of us are a bit too close to Rainier for comfort.
I think I know why the wildfires are out of control. Its all those Australian eucalypts. They burn like scrunched up newspaper with petrol poured on it.

Fixed.
We had a fire about 15km from where I live earlier this year. The fire burnt/travelled through 10 miles of bush in 6 hours!

BTW - For non-aussies: "petrol" translates to "gas" in seponese.

I'm worried that Howard will, again:(. A lot of young people (and others) have mortgaged themselves up to the eyeballs and are panicking about an interest rate rise, so I think they will vote for what they know and be a little too scared to vote Labor even if they wanted to for other reasons. It's all economics over here at the moment, forget social issues, forget the Indigenous, forget the poor, the failing public school and health systems, Howard keeps telling us a strong economy is the answer to everything, and a lot of people are swallowing this complete load of...
Look out here comes the flak for little Janie
The polls are all over the place - up and down - it depends what your reading or watching - there is a Myspace page called "Myelection" where some dweeb claimed that A Current Affair's (our trashy current affair program which is all hype and made up) Poll was as close to a real poll as you can get - maybe as close to a real joke, but not a "poll".

So you are saying that it's just like the U.S.--except that instead of only young people, it's everyone who could fog a mirror and sign their name over here.

Hey babyface...you wanna talk to NNS and all our other wonderful ladies in here a bit more respectfully than that or my feet are gunna get cranky all over your posts, he who narcissistically brands himself "stevebaby".
Don't get SB going. He thrives on insults and sacasm. It's kinda like one of those sci-fi plots when they drop the bomb on the monster and then general says " oh no,the nuclear waste only made him stronger".
Just think happy thoughts,it make him nauseous. :D

BTW - For non-aussies: "petrol" translates to "gas" in seponese.Nah, we aren't out 'in the bush'. The wind was blowing away from us and the fire would have had to cross farmland and a river valley, which is unlikely. I was close enough to see the flames in the distance from my office window. Some people from work had to go home and stayed up all night because their homes were in the path of the fire and they came under ember attack. About 12 homes burnt in that one, plus a bloke died during the chaos (not from the fire itself).
The Premier of Victoria said on the news it was the most 'intense' (as opposed to biggest, most lethal or most damaging) fire seen in the state since the 1983 Ash Wednesday fires, when 70+ people died. It was delibrately lit BTW. Aussies just love arsonists. During summer the whole south-eastern seaboard is on tenderhooks when the temperature creeps up to 38C+.

Some of the roads on this youtube vid are my regular riding roads. Believe it or not the countryside in this video is all green and lush at the moment.

The U.S. strikes again. If invading two countries was not enough, George Bush's America is preparing to unleash Vanilla Ice on its former ally Australia. Take that, you bastards.

By ninemsn staff
Seventeen years after achieving worldwide superstardom, Vanilla Ice
has announced a tour of Australia.
The formerly flat-topped rapper of smash hit Ice Ice Baby looks set to
ride a wave of nostalgia across New South Wales and Queensland, with
eight performances over a whirlwind nine-day tour starting December
28.
The tour peaks over the music-festival crazy New Year's period — with
the 38-year-old hitting the stage at four different venues over 24
hours.

The tour peaks over the music-festival crazy New Year's period — with
the 38-year-old hitting the stage at four different venues over 24
hours. Robbie Van W(r)inkle (a.k.a. Vanilla Ice) is taking advantage of the strong Aussie currency obviously.
I've heard he's going to North Queensland because they're about 17 years behind the rest of the world and they think he is a contemporary celebrity and talent. Because his concert venues will mostly concentrate on trailer parks (caravan parks in Oz-speak), he's changing the lyrics and titles to most of his hits. For example, "Ice Ice, Baby" is being changed to "Nice Lice, Baby".
I've also read that the entourage is considering extending the tour into New Zealand where he will be considered 30 years ahead of the times.
A rumor is going around that he is trying out for a fullback position in the Sydney Roosters Rugby League team at the request of the new coach, Brad Fittler. There is a paparazzi picture (see picture below) showing him trying out in the new Roosters 2008 kit, which he is helping to design. Apparently Fittler has mentioned to friends that he thinks if Vanilla Ice can keep a medley of his rap songs going for the entire game at fullback, it will form the perfect last line of defence, that should repel any attack that manages to break through.

Of course, if you gotta go then chillin to The Wall wouldn't be a bad way to go.

I am now petitioning to have you banned, Bro...:p
On second thought, Quest for Fire would have me welcoming a firing squad, so I guess it's not a bad selection....
