Is The Trek 6000 A Good Beginners Bike?
Hi - I'm 31 years old and completely new to the world of cycling. I'm planning to start cycling to get some exercise and hopefully use my car a little less for a greener world :)
I am 6' 1" and weigh approx 200lbs. I don't see myself off roading and will use the bike for the most only on tarred roads (though Indian roads can give many dirt trails a run for their money!) I foresee myself using the bike for maybe an hour daily with probably a little more on the weekends.
I only have the opportunity to buy either Trek or Firefox bikes here in India. I am looking for advise on whether the Trek 6000 is a good cycle for me. I would also like to know if the Trek 6000 is a significantly better cycle than the Trek 4300 D and if the addtional $250 for the 6000 will really result in "noticebaly" better ride quality/longevity. I must mention that the $250 will be a stretch on my budget especially considering it is a 50% increase on the price of the 4300 D.
I also don't have the opportunity to try out these bikes before buying them since these can only be ordered so can't have a "feel" before making my decision.
I can't wait to buy my bike and start cycling! Would really appreciate any advise on this for me, thanks.

Flashback,
The 6000 looks like a fine ride. Good components, good frame and a decent price. I'd say go for it!
