Hey i am an elite level Volleyball player and i love cycling, i have recently gotten a bike to do cross training. now what i am a bit concerned about is losing the explosive power in my legs (used for jumping), i was just wondering would cycling actully have that dramatic effect on my legs?? and does anybody have any training tips i could use to possibly maximise my explosive power???
thanks

thanksI don't think it will hurt your explosive power unless you plan on stopping all volleyball training while cycling. I don't think sprinting on the bike will help your jumping ability a whole lot either, but plyometrics (http://www.scrum.com/1436_1439.php) will. How about doing plyometric exercises after a bike ride (for warmup). Just a layman's suggestions. Anyone else?
