Now I know the obvious answer is to buy a drop handlebar in the first place.

I am going to be getting my new bike in the next week or two and have decided to go for the kona dr dew, which I like the idea of the flat bars and it seems to have good reviews and equipment for the money. It will be mainly used for commutting to work currently 10 miles each way with some light tracks.

My question is if in the future I felt so inclined how easy would it be to fit drop bars to this bike, and what if many complications would be required in relation to to handlebar components like brakes and shifters, due to such a change.

Would it also have any significant change in performance i.e speed etc

Thanks in advance for your comments
