Shame on the Dutch people that they didn't reply yet. :)

Places to stay : see my post about 'Vrienden op de Fiets'
Routes : most information is in Dutch, but with a few words as "links, rechts, afslaan, rechtdoor, splitsing" and a map, it should work out quite well. Try http://www.fietsplatform.nl/routes/routes.asp with an interactive map.

Many thanks for your reply, Fietslogies.

I note that you live in Belgium, it may be that we are now going to tour around Ieper/West Flanders. Any thoughts or advice - what about Ghent, I understand it's well worth a visit?

The western part of Flanders and the Vlaanderen Fietsroute can be easily reached by following the Dutch part of the Noordzeeroute. In Zeeland you will have to cross the river Schelde with a ferry (pedestrians and cyclists only). Then it takes about 3 or 4 days to make a tour in West-Vlaanderen and Oost-Vlaanderen. Damme, Brugge, Oostende, Nieuwpoort, (Veurne), river Ijzer, Diksmuide, Ieper, Heuvelland, Kortrijk, Oudenaarde, river Schelde, Gent. Ghent is a must ! Returning to the Netherlands is possible via Terneuzen. There's the Westerscheldetunnel (forbidden for cyclists, but every hour there's a bus accepting cyclists and their vehicles, reservation).
Most of the cycling routes in the western part of Belgium are along canals and rivers.

If you want to visit some of these cities, you will need a day extra.
