Thinking about getting this

Haven't ridden a bike in a long time. Found this trek 850 18" frame, 26" wheels, 21 speed on craiglist for $70.
Anyone have any idea on the approximate year (if anyone had the same color).
It was said to have no problems.

it's an oldie...prior to 1999

seems a bit expensive...I just sold my old Trek 730 MultiTrack for $50.00 cdn

Unless the 850 was well maintained, you're probably looking at some work-needed...maybe cog set, chain ring, cog set

For a few $ more you can get a decent used bike that's a little more current (keep in mind that those rigid singletrack's were very primitive when compared to more recent designs)
