Curious what shoes you guys wear on the trackThat's actually been a nightmare for me this year. Back in the day I used clips, double straps, campy track pedals and some Sidi titanium leather shoes with bolted and nailed on cleats. They worked like a charm and fit like a glove and I never worried about pulling out of double straps. When I started riding track again last year I pulled out the old rig and the shoe leather had cracked to the point I couldn't trust the uppers anymore. I found some track cleats to fit Look drilled shoes and thought I'd just pick up where I left off with new shoes. No dice, I couldn't adjust the cleats to put my feet where I wanted them over the pedals, then my existing clips weren't tall enough for the newer boxier shoes with all those velcro and ratchet buckles. I fudged around with them for several months and never got things where I wanted them.

Anyway, I riveted some good straps onto a pair of Shimano/Look pedals, installed Look cleats on a pair of newer Sidi shoes and I'm back in business. Too bad about the old Campy track pedals, they were a work of art even if they aren't very aero. Anyway if you have a cleat system you trust then about any snug fitting road shoe will work. I personally like the extra security of straps on my clipless pedals for track riding but I'd probably trust a pair of Speedplays if I didn't have this custom rig.

Good luck,
Dave
