I had a friend who, while in a happy mood one night, rode his bike right into a telephone pole. The scar remains on his face. The happy mood, needless to say, was enhanced by more than a bit of fruit-of-the-vine.

I was looking at some abstracts at Scientific American and read this:

It never occured to me how in danger I could be just biking home. It's
not just the cars trying to kill us! It's ourselves!

If two of three deaths are unhelmeted drunk cyclists, how many drink and bike? Is the findings of this study (advice: never trust a study without critical examination) credible to you?

If two of three deaths are unhelmeted drunk cyclists, how many drink and bike? Is the findings of this study (advice: never trust a study without critical examination) credible to you?
There are too many factors here, for instance to say whether the lack of helmets made a significant difference or whether the drunken cyclists would have been much safer if they had been sober. Someone who cycles because he's been disqualified from driving is not a typical cyclist.
