What Power Meter do you use? Vote on the poll!
Me - 4 Polar Power meters, next one might be an ergomo pro if the new Polar Power meter does not have enough 1 sec memory.
Sorry, I forgot to put SRM science in the poll!

I don't see the Look MaxOne hub on the list.

I have the Performance Bike (made by Elite) Real Axiom VR Trainer. I find the speedometer on the trainer reads about 1 mph slower than both my Polar 725x and VDO cyclometers.
I'm wondering if anyone has done any comparisons with regard to the accuracy, or lack thereof, of the electronic ergometer/trainer power meters versus the on-the-bike power meters.

I voted for the Powertap SL (which I've ordered this morning :D :D :D and hopefully will arrive next week) basically because I'm fed up with the very average performance of my current (soon to be 'ex') Polar system and the prospect of the new Polar units being a cosmetic 're-hash' of their current unit, albeit 'wireless'

What's up with all the people responding "other not listed"? With the exception of the old LOOK MaxOne, all the rest are on the list.

As I mentioned in my post, I'm using a RealAxiom (Elite) VR Trainer for my power workouts. Does this quality as an actual Power meter or is it technically an ergometer?

Actually, neither of the two on-bike PM's I've used were on the list: the PT Pro, and the old E-Tune PT Prolog.

I read the poll as pertaining to on-bike powermeters.

I consider(ed) the Tune PowerTap, PowerTap Prologue, standard PowerTap, and PowerTap Pro as all being the same thing, since the only significant difference between them all is the handlebar computer.

Am somewhat surprised by the poor relative showing of the Polar versus the Ergomo considering the much higher price and accuracy issues of the Ergomo versus the Polar, and the impression I have of the number of people who say they have a Polar, maybe the people who do have a Polar buy a lot of them, leading the popularity to be low as measured by this poll?
OTOH I have three PowerTaps so if we had a different sort of survey...
On other - some people may consider the HAC (among others) a power meter...

Thanks for the info.
I have a VDO cyclometer hooked up to my rear wheel in addition to my power meter/stationary trainer (RealAxiom VR Trainer by Elite) and it appears the power meter/trainer reads, on average, 1 mph slower than the VDO computer. This translates to an ~30 watt lower displayed power reading!!

WHy no Computrainer or I-Magic in the list of Power meters.
Both of these are fantastic

Presumably because they aren't bicycle-mounted powermeters. Now if the intent of the poll were to also include stationary trainers/ergometers that measure power, the list would have to include many more options (e.g., Lode, Monark, Bosch, Quinton, etc.).

When I created this poll I only intended this to be an on - the - bike powermeter poll. Not ones from a stationary trainer. And I've never heard of the Look hub.
Truthfully, I did not know all the flavors of Powertap and it's history. I wish I separated the SL, Std, and Pro models instead of bunching them up together. I am very surprised at how the Powertaps are the most popular, but ergomo is catching up. And I am surprised how very few have Polars, when this is the cheapest basic powermeter you can buy.
We can always do a new poll maybe in June that includes the new Polar powermeter. Maybe by then would be a good time after there had been enough sales for the new Polar and Powertap SL 2.4.

How about a poll that asks, "If you've switched power meter brands, what was (were) your previous brand(s)?"

Have voted once but have 3 PT hubs and 2 CPUs.
How do you account for multiple PM ownership in the poll?

I don't know, but I've got 2 hubs and 3 CPUs, so you and I even each other out!

I don't have a PM yet ... I want one based on my research to date, but this forum is making selection confusing.
SRM is more than I want to spend, leaving me to consider PT SL (preferably 2.4 wireless) or possibly the new Polar CS600. Won't consider erogmo now and iBike doesn't seem a viable alternative. Would love to hear more about the MicroSport Revolution, but suspect it is nothing more than vaporware for a while.
I realize that there is an inherent bias that problems are more likely to show up on forums like this, while happy customers are probably too busy riding to post anything positive about their device. Yet, the early experience of a few with their PT SL 2.4 on this forum is making me hesitant to take the plunge just yet.
I am curious are people out there who are happier than pigs in shit with their new PT SL 2.4's ??
Whereas I would hate to spend > 1500$ to get a PT SL2.4 wheel and have it crap out a week later, I am anxious to hear reports about the Polar CS600 once it is available to see how it tracks against the PT, hear about reliability, ease of set up, problems, indoor use on trainer etc. Does the limited memory 2 hour 50 min (for HR, speed, cadence, power) with 1s sampling make it a nonstarter for some ? Is it likely to be any more reliable than iBike ?
Seems there is a real love-hate relationship with the original Polar device.
