what colour pads?

i ride mostly cross country but do a lot of downhill also. i was using gold coloured pads(magura clara 2001) even though the brakes are promax(i know i know:( ) the pads wear pretty quick every 2-3months but they are pretty good except downhill. i read somewhere the gold pads are not suitable for downhill use so want to try another colour but not sure which?:confused: my dealer says theres no difference between the colours red green and gold.i just want to ask if anyones tried the different types and would you recoment which colour? i want the longest lasting and best braking but cant afford to upgrade the whole brake system just yet. thanks.
