need some quick info

I've been looking for a good full suspension bike, and I just saw something interesting on ebay. It's listed as a bontrager race disc with hayes components. It's a full suspension bike, with disc brakes. (I'm waiting to find the size) I didn't know that there were hayes derailers.
Anyone have any info on this bike or it's components?

Hayes doesn't make deraileurs as far as I know. If its not SRAM or Shimano don't bother. Paul's was finicky, Suntour is gone :(, Campy wrong kind of bike, Sunrace too soon to tell.

Unfortunately, the auction ended and I forgot to save the link to it. While it was listed as a Bontrager bike, from the photo, it looked like the frame had been repainted with no new decals, so the person selling it just used the name of the wheels. I spent a while looking at the pictures to see if I could figure out what the frame and components were, but no luck.
(I ended up not bidding, never heard back about the size of the bike)

Generally I wouldn't buy a bike like a Bontrager if the decals are not on it. You don/t know for sure what your getting. I've also noticed bike shops selling new and used bikes online some are not reputable, check their ebay ratings. You might consider ordering a 02, or 03 bike new online from supergo or Jensonusa or some other reputable online dealer. If you give details about what you need are looking for I 'll post anything I come across, I am looking at road bike at the moment but I come across all kinds.

Yes, by all means support your local bike shop. I have been a mechanic and a manager of three different bike shops before my present occupation and customer support is always appreciated. But I have also seen that some not all LBS are no better with their customers than reputable or unreputable online "bike shops". Some online bike shops are bike shops ie Supergo aka Bikeology in Santamonica, Wheelworld, Cambria, Performance, Colorado Cyclist, ADrenaline Bikes etc. So support your LBS wether it is local to you or local to someone a thousand miles away. One can read all the problems people have had with LBS in this forum as well as online. Buy the best bike you can afford. However I should note as a former manager: If you buy from someone else, do not expect special treatment-escpecially when they find out you bought it online. Also if you are looking at a bike online and decide to go to your LBS, be honest with the sales person. It is unfair to them if you have no intention of buying their bike. If your honest they, if a they are a good LBS, will try to win you over and will be probably at least try to sell you on their store so when the bike you've ordered comes in and you need it built or serviced later you would see them. LBS don't make much money on bikes anyways. Most people buy $300 bikes and the net profit can be $30 -5 dollars per $300 bike, yes $5. They make their money on parts and labor, bikes get you in the door and back to be serviced.

Actually, I'm holding off so that I can do that. There hasn't been a local bike shop here for a long time, but I just saw that a new bike shop will be opening the end of the month. I'm going to wait and see what they will be carrying.
If they don't end up having something I'm interested in, I'll check out some of the ones you've mentioned.
