i'm looking to get a mountain bike soon but i just had a question on which you guys think would be the best bet. the riding i'm going to be doing is probably half road half trails. i was just wondering for this type of riding would a hard tail be better suited then a full suspension?

The hardtail is definitely best for the roads. And when it comes to trails, it takes a pretty nasty trail to give a full-suspension the edge.

Since you are asking this question I can safely say that a hardtail is your best option. At your given price point, the rest of the bike can be of a higher quality by foregoing the rear suspension.

Are you looking at new and used? How much are you wanting to spend. I've got a 2006 GT avalanche 2.0 disc that I might want to sell. I'm considering upgrading. Let me know. Thanks, Greg
