Pauses every 256 records with CP?

Since 2001, over 90,000 cyclist's have joined Cycling Forums to discuss topics from general cycling to equipment, training, racing and travel or vacation destinations (especially in europe during the tour de france). We also feature an great deals in our online store, 100's of articles, classifieds and product reviews.

Is anyone else experiencing a 1-2 second pause every 256 records downloaded in CP? It slows down the downloading process quite a bit.

I don't know. It happens to me with my *USB* downloader (on my new PC). My slighter older laptop (Mobile Centrino) has serial port and USB ports, and downloading via the serial port there's no pausing, and it's much faster.

RicDitto - I have an older PC with serial port download cradle and it's never a pause but one of my chargers has the USB on a laptop and she gets the 256 pause.

Any clues on how to fix anyone? - it must be pretty annoying.

Is there a fix? I'm experimenting it as well, but I'm more than happy when it pauses every multiple of 256. Because I found out that when it doesn't, in other words when it stops at 250, then 507, then 753 and so on, it often means that I end up with some garbage data in CyclinPeaks. I then discard the download and restart the whole process.

This is caused by the 2 devices(PT CPU and your CPsoft) communicating to each other. Put very simplistically....
PT says, "ok, ready for more data?", your Cpsoft says, "Yes, send me more."

Happens every 256 records. Complain to PT if this is a real issue to you. Most devices do this on the front end and then don't require more of this 'back and forth'.
