I think Bush is getting closer towards admitting he goofed. If he doesn't know now that Iraq has been a major diplomatic blunder, he never will. They believed after 9/11 you could somehow compare Iraq with post imperial Japan and( by creating a democratic Iraq), bring freedom and democracy to the Middle East.
I'd love to see freedom and democracy in Iraq, Iran and Syria but it cannot be forced.
At any rate, if anything, Bush's second term has been one of weakness. Even the Kennedy clan was more confrontational than a second term Bush. I think Bush has been very weakened and has lost respect and credibility. He seems impotent in the face of North Korean missile tests and we all know Bush himself knows he goofed.

I do know Bush couldn't win a war against North Korea. The North Koreans would be in the South like yesterday if necessary, a bit like the Red Army poised to invade West Germany back in the Cold War days.
Bush knows war with North Korea would be a bloodbath. Bush also knows North Korea would not fire the first shot.
The thing is, none of this would have happened, had Bush not recklessly invaded Iraq. Thanks to the Iraq invasion, we now have a nutty, hardline regime in Iran, tensions in Israel and the North Koreans reacting to what they consider to be a threat.
However, it's pretty pointless moaning about Bush without end, I confess. The question is, what can be done? That's a tough one. If Bush pulls out of Iraq, the terrorists will take over that country and it will become a major terrorist recruitment site for anti-Western fanatics. If Bush stays in Iraq, he will more than likely suffer in the polls back home. The only possible way out might be a U.N. force but the Europeans are probably too afraid to get involved in such a mess as Iraq.

South Korea 20 years ago and South Korea today are two very different animals....they are more than capable of defending themselves.

Their would be significant civilian loss of life however in the initial artillery bombardment as they are very close to the border...but I think they could handle NK...as long as China stayed out.

I don't think North Korea could feed their army for very long in the field.

It's all speculation though I guess.

Think about it logically. What caused the Roman Empire to fall? In my view, the cause of the collapse was linked to demographic change, mass immigration and a policy of multiculturalism.
Somewhere around 165 A.D., Roman society started to diversify as the old governed peoples of the Empire flooded into the capital slowly creating a melting-pot of diversity, diverse religion and ideology.
Add to that the onset of hedonism, materialism and moral decline, and the foundations were starting to wobble. By 300 A.D. Rome was just a melting pot of various ethnic groups who were socially at odds with each other and no real common bond.
Now, look at out society today and you see the same thing happening. We have the same mass immigration, social transformation, the onset of religious fundamentalism and a society that's gone too soft and wishy-washy to protect its value system.
Comparing the Britain of 1940 to the present day is a bit like comparing the Rome of 100 B.C. with the Rome of 400 A.D.
What amazes me is we never learn from history but just go on to repeat the same old mistakes and policies we already know failed in the past. That even holds true for Vietnam and Iraq.

Wurm is not a liberal. Wurn is a angry anti-government individual who probably at one time in his life has some injustice done to him by the government. Or else his wife ran off with the local Republican canidate.
