I find that ice-tea made from tea-bags or boiled-cooled-water with boiled-ice makes a nice refreshment for the drink-bottle whether carried or bicycle-mounted.

When the water-bottle is not handy the nearest 7-11 and a Slurpee make an excellent treat to take in liquids while resting since one cannot slam a Slurpee that fast. If not a Slurpee then a beer also makes for a great treat to unwind at home with after the trek!

As for added nutrients I try to use drug-store-natural-multi-vitamins with the largest-meal of the day in the middle or near the end of the meal.

I try to stay away from liquids an hour before meal-time to avoid dilution of digestive-fluids and I usually wait about an hour before rinsing down my meals afterwards unless I am drinking whole-milk.

I try to eat whole-foods prepared by my own hands which I purchase myself at the grocery usually.

I do not eat that much fast-food or junk-food and an apple is a snack!
