Integrated Stems -vs- The Usual Set-Up

My mate has just purchased a Giant DH Comp and has put some 888s on it which include an integrated stem. I was wondering what the advantage is of having an integrated stem over the usual set up? Thanks all.

I have an 888 as well, and I believe that the advantage of the integrated stem is that it turns the entire top crown/stantion tube assembly, instead of just turning the steer tube, which then turns the stantions...I think it yeilds a more resonsive fork, and less apt to twist...affords more control? My Kona had the normal setup, and it turned a little too easily. The integrated stem seems to dampen the steering a little, since you're not directly turning the steer tube...That's the main difference I feel!

Im new to the world of Dual Crowns (and DH for that matter) and had a little ride on my mates DH Comp. It rides so different to the VPS Shore, tell ya that! I really didnt knowtice much twist with the normal set up attached to SuperTs but I guess, I really havent tried the Integrated Stem off road.
